IIIIIIIII..... didn't see it. Oversight. I kinda skimmed it fast, looked at the video, and looked at some forum posts, none of which mentioned it was a DL. My foot tastes lilke bacon, incidentally...
But anyway back to the topic. I have a followup philosophical question to all the defenders. Would you play this game and defend it so vehemently if it was called something else and made by a different company? IOW, not Rock Band affiliated?
I have a cocoon that's parked in a tree, that is full of guys that do nothing but play a video game that uses a little plastic baby guitar.
Peripherals are rare and expensive. This is an easier way to push out to those who've sold their instruments/those who want to get into Rock Band, but don't want to make the gigantic step into entering the games.

OP, your thread title "I don't get it" implies that you have actually made an effort to "get it." So far, I have read nothing to indicate that this is the case.

If you mean that I haven't done some research, I have. If you mean that I haven't done ENOUGH research... perhaps. What I don't "get" is why Blitz would or should, but obviously does, appeal to the RB/GH fanbase when it's a very different gameplay style. Essentially, my question is, why would *I* as a Rock Band Fan like Blitz when it takes away the one thing that is unique about the game?
And the general answer is cuz it looks fun.

I wasn't aware that trying to explain why a game isn't pointless made someone a "defender." Does that then make you an "attacker"? You're asking for explanations and being given them. No one here needs to be labeled.
Anyway, would I play the game and have fun playing it if was called something else? I would imagine so, but if it wasn't in the RB franchise, it wouldn't have the immense library of compatible songs going for it. There's a good reason it takes place in the RB universe.
Would I play the game and enjoy it if it was made by a different company? That really depends on how well this hypothetical other company made the game, but I've always enjoyed this style of gameplay. So I don't see why not if it was developed well.

Doesn't audiosurf sort of own the market (at least on PC) for this kind of thing, even though they didn't invent the idea?
