The songs that Chart Toppers are releasing don't have any direct references to the show thus there are no issues. That being said, we still can't do songs that directly reference the show. And would have to censor out any character names.

Really? I know that Trixie and Luna aren't uncommon names but those still kinda reference the show's characters (in the same vein as Discord anyway). This kinda worries me cause I'd love to release my song (it's finished but not recorded, no time right now) but I don't want to have to censor anything. I talk about the show a lot (mostly in vague context so it could really be any show) but the closest lyrics I have "directly" referencing the show are "technicolor ponies", "MLP", and "Friendship is magic" (in different phrases and contexts).

Well Bronies know that the songs were for the characters Luna and Trixie however there is nothing specifically in the songs themselves that references the show.

For their song "Trixie" in particular, if you look at the lyrics it seems like just a song about a magician named Trixie. Nothing in the lyrics mention that "Trixie" is a pony/unicorn or directly reference something from the episode.

Your best bet is to contact HMXLachesis about it and show her the lyrics.

We have other reasons for not starting yet with putting the few songs we have that don't have issues with trademark/copyright. Sorry, hopefully you can understand.

Well to get an exact answer for specific situations we'd have to talk with HMXLachesis.
But for now it seems the following are not allowed:
-Character Names
-Location Names
-References to parts of the show
-Recognizable lines said in the show

Again I can't be 100% sure without asking HMXLachesis about the specific lines. I would think as long as it is not a notable line from the show (like 20% Cooler) it would be okay but again it's entirely their decision.
