    BachiG was using the example of him "talking" to help anyone here understand what the meaning of the song's lyrics were.

    The song itself was very popular for it's time and taken very seriously, eventually becoming the National Anthem of the United States of America. The author of the song's lyrics was writing in a style/manner that was easily understood for the time it was written (if memory serves me correctly, 1814) and the fact that it became the National Anthem says volumes as to how popular it was and how seriously it was taken (and how moving the lyrics were).
