If I may....

Assuming lightsabers were real, or soon will be, the technique would be unique because they don't have a bladed edge. You can strike and block from any angle, as opposed to a single angle like a katana, or dual angles like a broadsword or claymore, etc. Also there'd be virtually no weight so the balance would be different.
