    EA v Zynga - A legal perspective.

Thought this was a pretty well written article and good read. Especially liked the legal notion of being able to copyright ideas. Also liked the historical stuff, didn't know about the Asteroids v. Meteors feud. Found that interesting because I actually had to do a version of asteroids for a class project. Anyway, liked it and am passing it on:

I'm not surprised "copyright" and "EA" are in the same article, and even less surprised that the article is about EA suing someone. EA is totally ruining the fun out of gaming because, what, they want all of the money in the world? It's things like these that make me not want to live on this planet anymore.

except EA is much better than Zynga...

Zynga has bee stealing people's ideas and work since the beginning.. I am glad a company finally has the money to take them to court

a big company trying to make money?! the hell is wrong with people these days! >:C

and from my experience, they're still keeping games more fun than Activision does (not like that's hard...)

To go along with what firedoom said, you apparently haven't looked at Zynga's development strategy, which pretty much involves: 1) finding a successful game made by another company, and 2) hiring people to copy it and sell it as their own. This is much, much, much worse than a large gaming company trying to make money (which I've heard is the entire point of running a business). I'm ecstatic to see that they've tugged at the nerve of EA, because EA is large enough to drag them into a legal battle that will cost them millions.

Hate EA all you want (even though they've made tremendous strides to shift their business structure away from the "Evil Empire" of the early 00s), but copyright infringement should never be condoned. Zynga deserves all the lawsuits that EA can serve up because they've been getting away with it for far too long by preying on smaller companies.
5+ years, 4,000+ songs, 1 awesome developer. Thank you!

Zynga is much worse - I don't think they have ever had an original idea. They scour Facebook and the App store for ideas then rip them off screen for screen. It's blatant plagiarism and I hope EA succeeds not for themselves but for the other smaller companies they have ripped off.

John Schappert resigned today, stocks are in the toilet - they will be a footnote by years end.
