Another question would be that IF it was 5 years and not more, can hmx negotiate with them before then but not release the songs until June(my guess is no), or do they have to wait until then to begin negotiating, meaning likely at least a 2 month wait if not longer(my guess is yes).

We still have no idea what time frame it is, or if it even is a time frame. It could be through the life cycle of the 360/ps3 for all we know. After all, the 5 year thing came from the exclusive use of No Doubt's likeness, which has nothing to do with the songs.

And it was mentioned that Aerosmith, Metallica, Van Halen, and The Eagles were exclusive to GH. Those 4 aren't guesses. We have no idea to what lengths they are exclusive though.

    Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....no.

It would be like telling the NASA people you know how to land the Mars rover because you played with spaceships as a kid.

It's not about deifying Henry, it's just pointing out the plain and simple fact that he has immense amounts information that you (and I, and all of us) don't.

Henry says GIA and SM are more requested than any songs lost to non-export. You say "Nuh uh, Metallica!" Based on.... you know what, I'm not sure.

I was going to ask the same thing. I thought maybe ThatAuthoringGroup had some insider information since he directly deals with artists and labels. I wasn't sure if he knew for sure that they were five year contracts or if he was just assuming,

At first I wasn't fond of the idea, but reading HMXHenry's posts helped with changing my mind.

I'm now cool with it because it isn't really that big of a deal. Besides, I had fun with "Give It Away" in RB2, and I will have fun with it in RB3 =)

Everyone assumes it's 5 years because of the No Doubt deal, when in fact each deal is it's own entity and has no bearing on other deals save for standard operating procedure(which we also have no knowledge of). Aerosmith could be 20 years and Metallica could have been 10 days.

Since you obviously care about Rock Band, it might not be such a bad idea to actually play the game sometime. Nothing is stopping you.
