Props man, that was very well said.

I've seen some dumb arguments on this forum but this one takes it to a new level. I knew I loved Iron Maiden as soon as I heard "Fear of the Dark." Eventually I did become familiar with their massive discography, but I wasn't at the beginning. Do we have to submit our level of admiration for a band to a committee to decide if we're allowed to feel it? Give me a fookin' break.

I am a fan of Queen, The Beatles, Foo Fighters, and Muse. I have all of their albums, I know all the band members names, I've listened to all of their songs, I know a good amount of their history, I have their concert DVDs and live albums.

I am however not a fan of Uriah Heep, Collective Soul, The Pretty Things, and Faith No More, but I do like a nice amount of their songs and maybe a album or two.

This, to me, is the difference between liking a band and being a fan.

I was mainly just teasing the guy, I didn't expect my original comment to de-rail the thread two pages later. Anyways, this argument is stupid and totally off-topic, so I'm done.

While I think there's some truth the concept of a "true fan" of something, it's hard to talk about that stuff without coming off as an elitist douche.

It's a pity that vBulletin's poll function is so limited. It would have been interesting to have a poll with a bin for each song and multiple choice allowed where every respondent indicated the subset of songs he or she would have paid full price for. Unfortunately you can only have 10 responses in a forum poll. Perhaps it could be done with 3 threads .

Seriously though, how do you love a band and not know all of their music? I think what you meant to say was "sorta like".

    That is absurd.

I would've been alright if he just said "i like queen", but he said "love", which to me sounds like something a real fan would say, not someone who only casually likes the band.

I mean sure it's not a single but it's a huge fan favorite and i'd say to just "like" a band you have to be only into the singles.

If you love them you at least try to dig deeper past what you could hear 24/7 in public.

There's no way you can be this serious saying something like this.

Got a problem with it? Because i don't.

Wow, you are being serious about this. I love queen. They're my 6th favorite band of all time and death on two legs was the last non rock band song by queen that i know. You don't tell me how much i can or can't love a band. And real fan? Really?!?

I've loved queen since before i've listened to death on two legs which was a few months ago. And there's no requirements for liking or loving a band. It all depends on how the person feels about it.

I see no problem with this.

    Exactly.

I selected 7-9, but seems I've actually listed 10. I decided Collective Soul was worthy as well.

    • Barenaked Ladies – “One Week”
    • Collective Soul – “Shine”
    • Elton John – “I’m Still Standing”
    • Fun. ft. Janelle Monáe – “We Are Young”
    • Great White – “Once Bitten Twice Shy”
    • Kelly Clarkson – “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”
    • Maroon 5 – “Moves Like Jagger”
    • P!nk – “Raise Your Glass”
    • Rick Springfield – “Jessie’s Girl”
    • Tears for Fears – “Shout”

    16 for me

    • Avenged Sevenfold – “So Far Away” (have all their other stuff, so I'd likely buy this as well)
    • Barenaked Ladies – “One Week”
    • Collective Soul – “Shine”
    • Elton John – “I’m Still Standing”
    • Fall Out Boy – “A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More ‘Touch Me’” (see entry for Avenged Sevenfold)
    • Foo Fighters – “These Days” (see entry for Avenged Sevenfold)
    • Great White – “Once Bitten Twice Shy”
    • Kool & The Gang – “Jungle Boogie” (a little funk goes a long way)
    • Iron Maiden – “The Wicker Man” (have both DLC packs in full, so would get this even though it's modern material)
    • Living Colour – “The Cult of Personality”
    • Queen – “Death on Two Legs” (second favorite track off that album. My favorite song from that album is "The Prophet's Song")
    • Quiet Riot – “Metal Health (Bang Your Head)”
    • Red Hot Chili Peppers – “Give It Away” (I'd only buy it to have a complete BSSM again)
    • Rick Springfield – “Jessie’s Girl” (wanted it in RB since GH got it years ago)
    • Soundgarden – “Spoonman” (a grudging buy, but I enjoyed it on RB2)
    • Tears for Fears – “Shout”

If you want to get technical, it would be 18 songs as I'd likely buy "Moves Like Jagger" and "We Are Young" for the vocals since I enjoy singing, even though they'd be crap on the other instruments I play.
May 20th, 2012: 4 long years since HMX released "Hysteria" by Muse. The wait for more Muse DLC has to end at some point, right?

10-12 is my initial assessment, with another 4-6 I might have eventually snagged. Blitz is interesting to me anyway, so I was in even without the great value.
