Well this week was horrible for me. I didn't find one got dang thing.

I went to a yardsale on saturday and saw Boston's debut. I picked it up, and saw it was gnarled Ll to hell at the bottom. Couple records had warped from the heat too, the people left them out in the sun and were still charging $3 per.

Worst record shopping I've done, even if it wasn't intentional shopping.

History still hates me, found another copy of Boston's debut, and back package was ripped and torn. If I only hung it up on my wall it would be fine, but upon a closer look the record was scratched horribly from misuse. Had to set it back down, but did find Chelsea Girl from Nico in prime condition, so it was a good day still.

I still go thrifting every week, and I'm still finding good vinyl to add to the collection. The most recent batch included John Williams's 2-LP release of the Superman soundtrack, in very good condition, along with several Chuck Mangione records I didn't yet have.

Looking to give my vinyl records a good home. Ideally to someone in the DC area, they are really too heavy to mail, with rare exceptions. There are a few I want to record digitally first (yeah, I'm well aware that the result will not be "CD quality"), in a perfect world there would be someone locally who would be willing to make the file for me after taking the record.

One boxful got wet, years ago, it was sad. The vinyl seems to have survived the experience just fine, but the covers got stuck together. Bleh.

I do have a few Chuck Mangione LPs, let me know if there are any in particular that you do not yet have.

What's the size of your collection? Why are you getting rid of them?

The collection consists of about 200 random albums, about 2/3 from my Dad, the other 1/3 were bought by me and my sister in the crap-tacular 1980s. I'm a bit of a pack rat, so I "saved" them from getting thrown out years ago, that seemed like a crime. Now my fiancee is moving in, so I'm purging all the stuff I don't need. I do own a turntable ... but I haven't played a record in years. It pains me to get rid of them, but clearly they fit the definition of something I SHOULD get rid of.

I can't imagine that any of them are valuable (especially after the incident with the covers getting stuck together), but some of them might be worth listening to. My ex-neighbor would probably take them for free, but there's no way he would digitize any for me. Ideally I would do that first before I gave them to him (or to Goodwill)(or to you?)

Seriously, if you don't live near DC, you probably don't need to dig through this collection. But I'll send you a picture of the spines from all 3 boxes if you're really curious.

Ironically enough, two of the albums that I bought in the 90s (for .99 + shipping) were the only ones that my ex-neighbor found intriguing (and offered to pay me cash for). I mostly bought them for the covers, my friends that worked at the radio station in college introduced me to:

I guess those should be the first two I digitize. It's not like I'm going to hang either of them up as "art" these days.
