I think Ouya is going to surprise a lot of people in this thread. Indie developers are quite good. There's no reason that games such as Braid, Journey and Limbo wouldn't show up here as their developers are all interested. Also, larger more mainstream developers have shown an interest. Minecraft shows that indie devs can also make popular games. Indie is not synonymous with mobile.

Ehhhhhhh, Limbo isn't that great. And I hear Bastion lumped along with those 3 and I found Bastion to be good, but lacking.
The indie games I'm stoked to play (I own them but can't play them cuz of my crap PC) are Lone Survivor and Amnesia. Seriously, every video I've soon on Lone Survivor makes me want to call it one of the best games of all time. But I have yet to play it
...uhhhhhh yeah. My point was that the rush for a supreme graphics machine means inflated budgets for bigger titles.

The feature that will most determine whether this is successful or not will be security. How safe from pirates will the games be?

it's not the higher specs that make the PS3 and 360 what they are to write games for, it's the developer tools suite and ease of programing on. The 360 uses a version of Direct X, so it's not unlike making a PC game except for a single piece of hardware, and Sony has it's own toolset. Part of the problem with the Wii was the lack of compatability with either console's toolset, which the Wii-U is looking to rectify (it was one of the first selling points).
The Ouya looks to possibly be a cool breakthough for Android gaming, but until it can support the same games the 360/PS3 or even Wii can support, it will have issues breaking though, and it's not likely to have a lot of big developer support outside of current Android developers, who don't have the history of making top console games, so it might take a while before it has any real support.
The other issue with Android as a platform is that any Ouya development would likely not work well on the mobile devices, and vice versa. Different controls and expected interface tools, and no real simple way to use both.

Remember that Ouya is using mobile hardware. It's basically the exact same hardware that's used in the Nexus 7 tablet.
Secondly, there's a handful of good indie developers, and a whole lot of crap. And even among the indie devs that have one successful game, few are ever able to follow it up.

It's rare for EA or Activision to release a game with a Metacritic score under 50.
That's astonishingly common for indies.
Simply put, indie developers still are at a massive disadvantage in terms of depth and polish that they can put into their games. Full stop.
