I see most people are discusssing this in the Squier review thread, but it appears we really need a thread just for setting up the Squier for best in game play. So post all tips and tricks to set up and adjust your Squier here.

This is a peer based discussion on adjustments and settings for your RB3 Squier Stratocaster - THIS IS IN NO WAY AN OFFICIAL HARMONIX THREAD.

All tips, tricks, tweaks and set-up suggestions come from Rock Band players just like you, so think about what you are doing and use the suggestions at your own risk.

Many suggestions cover items that are NOT included in the manual and may or may not void your warranty. Harmonix assumes ZERO liability for any damage you do to your Squier Strat by following any suggestions in this thread... whew...

unfortunately people will tell you to USE THE HORRIBLE search function. I requested a thread DEDICATED to proper guitar technique but I was told to search other threads. I don't have the time to sift through every page of every thread looking for that. So good luck lol.

I noticed someone told you that in your thread, but everyone is posting in the review thread about setup and techinque and we should really have seperate threads for both technique and proper set up, this way you don't have to go looking in a thread with the wrong title to find your answer.

Ironically, the "defecive Squier" thread in Hardware support has had some of the best info so far.

Learning there are adjustment pots inside the strat is huge IMO.

I did stumble across that. That seems like a big one. I wonder what type of results people have had with just adjusting those pots rather than the pickup/bridge.

It seems like some people had to adjust the pickup so high it was almost touching the high E. I wonder if simply adjusting those pots is a better approach.

Honestly people shouldn't be needing to do adjustments to pots inside the guitar and such, you're voiding warranties because you are simply not playing the instrument right. I mean really, crying something doesn't work and you are using home made picks? Or never touched a real guitar in your life and are attempting pot and truss rod adjustments.

This thing has a warranty, use it. Authorized Fender dealers WILL set your guitar up FREE and check it for defects, utilize these options first before voiding the warranty.

I will probably use a combination of both depending on how it works right out of the box.

People go to extremes and knee jerk reactions and expect miracles, me I tinker and tune till it gets just right... er just how I want it.

Considering people have all kinds of playinng styles and performance expectations I am sure we will end up with several "ideal set-ups"

Anyone having any luck playing with out the string mute on? If I play with it on everything works fine. If it's off I'm getting double notes. Just wondering if there is a way to fix that or if we just need to play with the string mute on?

For score: String Mute On

For sound: String mute off.

When playing though an AMP I will just use practice mode just like I do with my drums.

Just a few more days and I'll have mine. I hope to get it setup just right. Luckily my buddy from NJ is coming down to FL to visit and he happens to be a hobbiest Luthier. Between the right tips from the board and having him around to help with adjustments I should be set.
