If a powerup is rebalanced, is the leaderboard rebalanced as well?

I was listening to the Harmonix Podcast, and at one point it was mentioned that the powers that be do have the ability to do behind-the-scenes tweaks to the game if they notice some things are out of whack once the masses start trying to break their game to get on the leaderboards.

We all know people will try to exploit to get their name on top. This is best evidenced by the fact that every time I 100% FC I Love Rock and Roll on pro drums, my 118,890 score is beaten by two people in the world, who have 800,000+ points. These scores have been around for a long time - I would imagine as a result of the pause score glitch that was fixed in an early update for RB3. But it seems the leaderboards weren't fixed.

So, my question is, if there is a decision to rebalance the poweups, do the leaderboards get wiped or rebalanced? Or will there be scores that will forever be unattainable due to changes that occur after the score was posted?

I think this is a very valid point. If they decrease how effective a power-up is I certainly hope they don't do so for at least 1 month. If people get in early then in the next few days they decide that something is too powerful.

I would doubt that they wipe leaderboards though as it would create more problems then it solves. They would probably be better off leaving them as they are.

I think the people with 800,000 points hacked the game though or hit a glitch more then it being the result of a tweak.

Do you have any reason to believe a Powerup might be nerfed?

    I don't either.

None seem too ridiculously powerful. The h4x0rzz who game(/cheat) the system will always be there. There's not too much that can be done about them, except to let the babies have their bottle. And in any case I don't think nerfing a powerup would do much of anything to stop it. I've always seen leaderboards as a nice bonus -- my goals are always with myself (can I GS this song, can I FC this song, maybe it extends to can I beat my friend on this song). If I've got a nice leaderboard rank, that's a bonus. I say let those who need to compensate for something compensate for it

I only asked the question because it was mentioned in their latest podcast that they could rebalance powerups if needed on the back-end without requiring a system update. Perhaps they meant coin cost of the powerups.. perhaps they meant how many points. I was just curious.

While I certainly can't tell you why you play the game, I do think the leaderboards are a driving force for a lot of people for a game like this, and I'd hate to see un-attainable scores start hitting the top spots.

when u say u fced it on drums, does this mean u didnt change track at all and only played drums...? that might be your problem.

No, he's talking about RB3 with that. It's just an example of h4x0rzzez cheating the system.

Good question. However, the specific scores you are referring to, are probably not the result of hackers. There's a very rare, seemingly random glitch that happens to give players way more points than they would otherwise be able. It may even be exclusive to drums. Maybe someone else knows for sure. It's kind of lame that those scores exist, but likely not the player's fault. If they have quite a few other scores like that though, then yeah, they cheated.
