How does the pinball score? Is it just 100 pts every time it hits the paddle?

I think it's 100 each time it hits the edges, though I thought I saw points go up as the ball touched each note. I'm not entirely sure on how it works, just that it gives immense points on single-instrument songs. Hence why I plan to buy every last one I'm missing.
