I've watched the video of the controversial play. I guess I just don't know football well enough -- can someone explain to me why it was such an obvious/heinously blown call?

Because the Packers player obviously caught the ball which would have been an interception and the Packers would have won. Instead they said the Seahawks dude caught it costing the Packers the game.

It's not just that, there were other blown calls on that drive, including a pass interference call where the wideout was holding his hands over the DB's eyes and the DB got called for interference, which lead to the above play happening in the first place.

Beyond the fact that the Packers player clearly caught the ball, the play should've been called dead anyway for pass interference when the receiver pushed one of the other DB's down before the ball got there and the game should have been over there.

It was more about the blatant offensive pass interference that everybody in the stadium saw, but the refs. That should have ended the game, Packers win, doesn't even matter who had possession of the ball. The game should have been over as soon as that happened.

Regardless of the penalty the Packers should have won seeing as the Packers clearly had possession of the ball. There should have been no way the Seahawks should have won. That being said, as a Bears fan, Im happy they did win.

Exactly the Packers got screwed out of a win TWICE on the same play. Refs missed the offensive pass interference first which would have given the Packers the win, and then they go on to say Tate had simultaneous possession, which he didn't originally, clearly the Packers had the ball, and by rule automatically giving the Seahawks the touchdown and the win. Missed 2 blatantly obvious calls on one play, but whatever, it's all settled now until one of the regular refs screw up.

They better have a spotless officiating game tonight, that's all I have to say. One questionable call and everybody is going to fly off the handle again.

It looks like its possible for the regular refs to be back this weekend. So we can go back to yelling at people that are actually qualified to ref professional football

They're going to have the regular refs back for tonight's game apparently too. They wasted no time giving those Lingerie Football League refs the boot.
