And last year, USC lost (at home) to a Stanford team that got pummeled (at home) by Oregon. What happened when Oregon played USC? They lost (at home). Dominoes are not an accurate predictor in college football.
It's really unfair. We're going to play Missouri without its starting QB (not that that would affect the outcome - Missouri is in no way equipped to play an SEC schedule), an LSU team that will probably be bringing in people from the stands by the time we get there, and exactly zero of the legitimate teams in the East.
Who would have thought two months ago that a schedule including Michigan (neutral site), Arkansas (away), Missouri (away), Tennessee (away), Mississippi State, LSU (away), and Texas A&M would end up as one of the weaker resumes? Oh well. I guess I can't really complain.
I'd seen the first one. Had no idea there was a second. Pure comedy gold.

Oregon was looking ahead past that USC game last year, at least it looked like they were when they played that game. This year's Oregon team looks a lot better than last year's but then again, so does this year's USC team.
This is why SEC teams shouldn't load their schedule with division I-AA or I-AAA teams to play against them to begin the year like most of them do. If they're the best conference in college football, play the best teams in non-conference games. It's really unfair. Yes, the SEC should really take a page from the Pac-12 and play non-conference powerhouses such as Tennessee Tech, Nicholls, Syracuse, and Northern Arizona
Or perhaps they should follow the B1G's example and schedule fearsome opponents like UAB, Massachusetts, Northern Iowa, and Eastern Michigan
I mean it's downright ridiculous that Auburn schedules creampuffs like Clemson, or Alabama starts their season with a leisurely match against the eighth seeded Michigan

Like I said, they'll be a deserving favorite in every game. But if upsets never happened, college football would be boring. USC was supposed to beat everyone on their schedule easily and it took two weeks for that dream to die. I'm not claiming that USC or Stanford are better teams, just that they're good enough to ruin Oregon's season. There's a reason teams rarely go undefeated.
I don't know what I-AAA is, but virtually nobody plays two FCS (formerly I-AA) teams. FSU did this year because WVU backed out but that's really the only case of a major program doing it. Everybody schedules this way because the rankings value W-L records so much more than schedules (see Boise State in the top 5 playing WAC teams). If FSU can get into the title game playing an ACC schedule and two FCS teams, then a two-loss SEC or Big 12 team with close losses to conference foes should have the same opportunity, but they don't.
The new playoff format is supposed to consider strength of schedule. Hopefully, it will work like RPI, where you get credit for playing good teams even if you lose. Only then will these free wins start to drop from schedules.
Incidentally, I understand that we're in talks to play Wisconsin in 2015. I'm honestly shocked that Wisconsin's AD would even consider playing a real team (Oregon State was supposed to suck). If that goes through, our next five years will include games against VT (Atlanta), WVU (Atlanta), Wisky (unknown neutral site), and Michigan State (home-and-home). Not that SEC teams have the balls to go up north.

I still think the college football system should move to a relegation league like the Euro soccer leagues, and I'll champion that cause for decades to come.
Yes, I understand this is 100% impossible, between the NCAA, its conferences, and college history, college player turnover, administration, scheduling, and most importantly the money; but it's still fun to think about.
According to Wiki, there are 120 teams + 4 transitional teams in D1 ball. Let's assume 120 teams to make it an even 10 leagues with 12 teams each.
So it's pretty simple: 11 games, with a bye week. Top 8 move to a Champion's Playoff, bottom 4 move to a Relegation Playoff. The 3 losers in the Relegation Playoff move down to the lower league. The Champion's Playoff has a 3rd place game, so the top 3 teams move up a league. A National Champion is crowned without (much) controversy. Every game counts, and there's excitement in some regard up until the last night, since every playoff game means something.
It would be crazy, yes, but crazy fun.
Aside: One of my friends has Geno Smith and a few other WVU players in our NCAA fantasy league. He is pretty much destroying everyone.

As cool as that would be, it's just not feasible for teams to be constantly switching in and out of conferences. You'd have the potential for the Wake Forest team having to fly out to Hawaii for a Saturday game. (Most of) the players are students and still attend class, and it simply wouldn't work out if teams had to fly rather than bus any given Saturday
Moreover, it would completely remove all semblance of rivalry games, and rivalry games are arguably more important/exciting than bowl games
