My school won yesterday, so we're 5-3 on the year now, pretty much making this the best season we've had since I started going to college. Not bad.

My college used to have a football team. It did when I was a student. I actually went to a few games.

I have never been to a school with a football team. Which sucks because I like football

Have no fear. Texas could only muster a 21-17 win against Kansas yesterday. ...and we're back to switching QB'S mid game. Y'all should have no trouble next week.

Don't worry... The Aggies right now are an aberration. Next year they should o back to their normal selves... At the same time, thank god they jumped shipped to the SEC this season or they would have totally crushed the Horns.

It had one YEARS ago but apparently some kid died during a game and the school decided to drop it because they should afford insurance or something. Starting this year they have football for 6th grade and next year there would be a 7th grade team ect. Also a reason why they didnt start it earlier is because they thought there was no interest which everyone knew was bull.

Note: Long rant about Saban follows. If you don't care either way, go ahead and skip it. I'm venting a little bit because when you wear Alabama shirts in South Florida you get a lot of this crap.

All of the players drafted while Saban was coach, save Ronnie Brown, were complete failures that never provided any meaningful stats to the NFL, and you can blame the head coach for that. The lineup on defense that he decided to start was one of the oldest in the league in 2006 - 10 of the 11 starters were 28 years or older. They were old, they were slow, they were weak, and they didn't contribute

The fact of the matter is that Saban was a terrible coach at the professional level, and was simply in way over his head, which is why he lied and subsequently made his return to college. He's good at recruiting, but he's terrible at developing a professional football team. There have been a couple of cases of college football coaches fleeing back to the NCAA when they get in over their head at the professional level, but his inability to do anything other than ask Ronnie Brown to run the ball was incredible

He's also still a liar and a quitter, so there's that too
    Yawn.

Where did I say he did a good job as the Dolphins coach? Please, show me. I'll wait.

What I said was that he's a scapegoat for the fact that the Dolphins sucked for years. People act like he took a great team and ran them into the ground. I'm not saying he made good personnel decisions but he had a whopping two drafts. Mueller, Ireland, and Parcells continued to fill the roster with players that didn't pan out while making no effort whatsoever to acquire a franchise QB until this year.

This is pathetic. He did not ruin the franchise for years. That's not even possible. Franchises are bad for years because they continue to make bad personnel decisions (players and/or coaches). That's exactly what the Dolphins have done. The 0-7 start in 2011 is not a direct function of the players drafted in 2005 and 2006. It's a result of the players drafted over a number of years, the players signed in free agency over the previous couple of years, and in this case a bad coaching hire.

All that being said, I've never seen someone so demonized for taking a better job. It's funny how people talk about how bad a coach he was and then call him a quitter. Did you want him to stay on as the coach? He let reporters heckle him into saying he wouldn't be the new Alabama coach because at the time it was true. After the season, he met with Mal Moore - at Moore's request, not his own - and decided that it was a better opportunity. What am I missing here?

There is no comparison to Petrino (directed at dwb). Saban didn't leave the team for dead in the middle of the season with no warning. He didn't go to his boss's house for dinner and tell him to his face that he wouldn't be leaving shortly before doing exactly that. But let's say he was lying. I guess it would have been better for him to say "yeah, I'm leaving after this year; the players and fans will just have to live with a lame duck coach". Or let's say he left in the middle of the season - oh wait, that's why people hate Petrino. I guess he was supposed to stay in Miami - wait...

Oh, and Saban didn't cheat on his wife, hire his mistress, and lie about it. Petrino is a scumbag who only cares about himself and money and pursues those interests relentlessly at the expense of everyone around him. The worst thing you can say about Saban is that he's opportunistic and doesn't leave always leave jobs on good terms. Charity for underprivileged kids? Built houses after a natural disaster? Glowing endorsements from nearly all of his players? I guess that's all irrelevant if you tell an annoying reporter you're not going to take a job they're speculating about.

    Grow the **** up. Seriously.

That win was a work of art today (minus the whole losing our starting QB thing). Hopefully this season is the start of a true turnaround and not a fluke like 08.

I don't think so. But from what I heard their delusion was astonishing. Posting "8-0 #WEBELIEVE" flyers on the Saban and Bryant statues, that stupid "Alabama state championship" thing, etc. Usually when we play an overmatched team, they can admit it.

Mine didn't, although I gather we weren't eligible due to our size (I graduated with about 140 people).

Around there was my graduating size. I dont think they would not let you play based on size unless you didnt have enough people to make a team.
