Exclamation Holiday RBN Songs to expect for this year.

I know it's three whole months until winter and awesome holidays, and many people would get the MLP reference right there.

But, last year of Holiday 2011, no one prepared any Christmas songs. I don't think even Harmonix had a Christmas song. So, here's a little warning for the authoring groups that now would be a good time to find some holiday songs. I don't know if it's really early or late for this, actually, I'm just winging it.

So, here's a list of songs that I know of that have to do with the holidays, or at least the season. If there's more, let me know in the post below. Don't let three months from now be a fail like it was last year!

Holiday RBN songs confirmed so far:
    Nathaniel Whitlock (Remixed by AskariNari)
Snow Zombies [NSFR Remix] (Author: AskariNari)

    Distant Autumn
    The Christmas Song (Author: FairwoodStudios)

    Richard Campbell
Rock The Halls (Author: RhythmAuthors) [Couldn't find link. :/]

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, no one knows if the song(s) will make it on time, but let's cross our fingers!

Any more Holiday songs we should know about?

I like this idea. My impression is that it takes longer than 3 months from "hey, let's try to get that song" to the time it gets released. Here's hoping that one or several songs are already in the works.

Or maybe everyone else also subscribes to the same theory that Harmonix does, that holiday songs aren't worth producing because nobody wants to play [buy] them 11 months out of the year. Although I can think of a few exceptions to that rule myself, they are probably right, in general.

This is a pretty fair assessment - but you can look at it the other way, in this case. If it's fairly unlikely that Harmonix will bring out any holiday music, then there's an opportunity for RBN authors to take advantage of unmet market interest.

The best thing to do would be to make holiday music that is enjoyable year round. See "Chiron Beta Prime", the best Christmas song on the Rock Band platform

Last year ASP released a Halloween themed song. (It would be really cool if it got released for PS3 on Halloween this year)

This year, as long as nothing unexpected happens, we will release another holiday themed song. It may or may not be a Christmas song. I don't want to give away too much just yet. I will say however it has non stop keys.

If I still had the masters, and if the song were definitely in the public domain, I'd put my version of Carol of the Bells on Rock Band for sure! But alas, it's still owned by some company, and I have no masters for any songs before the Missing Chromosomes recordings.

I've got a question. I know there's a no cover rule in RBN, but at what point is a song that has been covered a million times (ala pretty much every christmas song ever) not considered a cover song?

I think it would be interesting if some of the artists we work with have any christmas music to put into the game, but I don't want to waste time with the sorry this is a cover issue.
