I feel the coin system SHOULDN'T be winnable at all. You should have to earn your coins by non powerup runs. They made goals pointless. I had fun doing them, now there is no point what so ever. I have 86k coins.

Just because you want to restart 1,000,000 times going for a high score, doesn't mean coins are broken. They are absolutely pointless now, you get 5* you break even essential (yea you get -50 or +50 for gold coins whatever thats not the point its even) Playing a song with coins shouldn't net a win of coins at all. You should have to obtain them on naked runs (learning the song) or playing goals (on facebook OR added to the game itself would be awesome) Thats the challenge, thats the fun. Or winning through extra bonus, new song bonus, double coins weekends or whatever.

They have plenty of ways to get coins. Playing a song with coins shouldn't be a way to get coins.

Of course you're entitled to your opinion, but do realize how staunchly you're in the minority with it.

Well I don't disagree that coins are effectively meaningless now. But it was done as a result of HMX listening to overwhelming (here, anyway) player requests. That's a good thing, period. And I doubt they're done with it. I'm sure they'll introduce something that you can spend thousands of coins on (the "peek" probably could have been for 1000 coins rather than just 20).

i really don't get the 20 second limit on the peek thing though, even if someone would want to look at it for a longer time they could just take a screenshot or whatevz

I agree with him as well. Goals are pretty much worthless now, except to have a silly badge on Facebook, that doesn't even show up in game. I have 189,000 coins now.....never to run out again. Before the coin tweak I had around 20,000.

Goals and new song bonuses (even under the old system) have made coins far more "useless" than any changes to the coin economy.

It took me 20 tries to gold star "Cult of Personality", and 17 tries for "Sing", not counting a lot more ragequits. If I had to not only finish the song, but play the whole thing again with no items just to earn enough coins for a real attempt, I wouldn't have bothered.

I used up all my new song bonuses a few days ago, and since I don't have large amounts of songs from the artists listed for the past few Medium goals, I would have constantly been draining coins no matter what under the new system. Even contributing to new community goals would have been draining until the qouta was reached (and would have been a loss if the goal wasn't met, like with the 80's one last week). Having to constantly go back and play a song without power-ups just to be able to play a song WITH power-ups? That's not fun, and I don't see how it CAN be fun to anybody.

This new system is a godsend. I think the people who are complaining about the tweaks are the ones who have over a thousand+ songs and have yet to use up their doubled coin bonuses.

Coins are a fun / successfully addictive feature of a lot of games these days. They encourage you to play every day, but only for like 20-30 minutes at a time. If you don't log in that day, you don't get your daily coins. If you want to keep playing after 30 minutes, you'll need to pay real money ... but I would never do that, because it acts as a great reminder that I shouldn't be playing any one game for hours at a time.

BUT this game really isn't meant to be like that at all. Sure, the community goals provide a regular inflow of coins, but you don't need to help out (or even log in every day) to get the bonus. And Rock Band has never been interested in discouraging obsessive people from playing all day, why are they starting now? I am happy to have a way to keep people from trying for a high score 100x in a row, quitting after 30 seconds the first 99 times. But only because I don't do it that way. Do lots of people find that style of play to be unsporting? Did they really put coins in explicitly to discourage that kind of game play? I'm not convinced. In addition, you CAN'T buy more coins, even if you wanted to. Well ... sort of ... you could buy more DLC, and keep those double-coin songs coming.

The coins remain a somewhat inelegant feature in Blitz, but I think at least I understand what they were trying at, to add some strategy features to the game. Though not that's far less true now, under the new coin system, not if you have the Facebook app and even occasionally bother to complete goals / compete in Score Wars.
