The fans wouldn't be allowed to super-size them in NY any longer.

I know a guy that's a huge Dream Theater fan that kinda fits that description plus he seems to only like Progressive Metal and some Progressive Rock too. The guy really needs to broaden his horizens. Still he's a cool guy despite that.

The stereotypical Dream Theater fanatic is horrific when it comes to taste, but it kind of fits with the band's music, I guess.

Yeah... it's kinda surprising to some people when they realize that I like music outside of the progressive/avant-garde spectrum... just because I'm a prog guy doesn't mean I can't like other music. (Then again, the fact that my tastes can probably be best described as "musically schizophrenic" might be more the point of surprise to people...)

I'm not against Avenged Sevenfold, in fact I have a few of their songs on my iPod. I can't say that they are one of my absolute favorites and that I'm a diehard fan, but they have some really catchy tunes from time to time. There are a few things that annoy me about this band, but it's nothing that would make me turn against them. I think the main thing that grinds my gears is that their song "Nightmare" is REALLY overplayed. I loved this song when it came out, but it was popping up on the radio as well as quickplay sessions on Rock Band every ten minutes at one point in time. I got so tired of the song that I deleted it from my Rock Band library.

I quite like DT, but you really need a strong stomach to put up with Labrie's howling ... Which is why I liked Black clouds and silver linings so much (Disc 2).

Between digging Depeche Mode and Dream Theater? I'd say so. This world is sorely lacking in music schizoprenia.

Yeah. When his voice is tacked onto Portnoy's tendency to overplay, it can be a bit too much to stomach. Petrucci's got some good riffs, though.
