    Can't find I negative review.

This game seems to have universal praise. I hate the gameplay. It is tedious (and this coming from someone who has 1750 songs in RB3 and meticulously maximizes his scores on every one).

I'm also an avid gamer and have done a lot of grinding for games that I didn't necessarily like. The idea of spending time on this game seems so unbearable that I'm having my wife play on my gamer tag for me.

So I should just be happy with this game as a track pack for RB3 right? I've bought more then my share of songs, from a wide variety of genres, and I will be sure to find some gems I like right? Wrong. If I had viewed the charts before making a purchase like I normally do I would have bought 3-5 songs. Assuming it was 5 and I payed $2 a pop I still didn't get close to my money's worth.

There must be others out there who feel the same as I do.

And sorry about the error in the thread's title. The "I" is meant to be an "a". Oops

There was this post from NeoGAF which has received some circulation, but...I think that's about it?

I was frustrated with the gameplay for the first few hours. Once I got better (and it didn't take that long) I loved it.

I like it. BUT I played Frequency and Amplitude a LOT back in the day (and yes I know Blitz isn't EXACTLY like Freq and Amp, but there's definitely correlation there), so playing Blitz was like running into an old friend you hadn't seen in a decade and finding out new and different things about them.

I have a feeling that the people that hate Blitz are like the Guitar Hero 3 people (let me explain).

After Guitar Hero 3 there were two factions of players in the rhythm game fan base.

Those that played Guitar Hero 1 and 2 and then Rock Band and those who started with Guitar Hero 3.

MOST people that started on GH1 loved Rock Band and boo hissed GH3 and up. Those people were used to Harmonix's style and GH3 was such an arcadey type of game they hated it. Overcharted was the rallying cry most rang out.

The opposite was true for those that GH3 was their first game. They thought Rock Band was slow and boring, and undercharted and too easy was what they liked to yell.

I think the same thing is happening here. Those people that played Freq, Amp, or to a lesser extent the RB mobile or unplugged games are liking Blitz as they knew what to expect, and those people that started with Guitar Hero 1, or Rock Band (and essentially never played the above games), are hating on it and can't get used to it for whatever reason.

    Just my two cents.

There are certainly issues with the game that are negative, namely:

    1) The offline mode is useless and really threatens the long-term availability of the game if it is not fleshed out and better integrated with the online mode in the future.
    2) Related to the above, the game handles the situation where a connection is lost during a song in about the worst way imaginable by flushing your score (and eating your coins) without even providing an opportunity to attempt to reconnect.
    3) The lane changing mechanic is a bit sloppy due to the fact that the game doesn't cancel the back end of note detection on notes that are already well past the strike line (this is particularly noticeable in Blitz mode.)
    4) There are a few baffling interface omissions, like the absence of the "lighter" rating mechanic and the inability to see counts of songs in each sorted category. Also, you can no longer see full albums in their proper track order.
    5) The game appears to freeze after purchasing new songs via the in-game Music Store interface because it doesn't show a message indicating that it's repopulating the list.

There are a few others, but the good thing is that all of those issues are fixable, some of them very easily. The core game design is solid and the gameplay is just addictive beyond belief, in my personal opinion. Despite those flaws, I still think the game is an absolute masterpiece and I will surely lose hundreds of hours of my life to it.

I've seen a couple of negative (and plenty of less-than-100% positive) posts here, but you're right, the press coverage was quite good. There's been lots of feedback from all of the regular players, some of which has led to changes in the game already. It's pretty remarkable that there are so many dedicated players, right from the start, and that Harmonix is willing and able to tweak the game right away based on their feedback.

You're probably right Noble....I bought the game day 1 because there were some songs I had to have and was hoping I'd love the game...and if I did it was just a bonus in my eyes. I've never played Frequency or Amp before so I went in blind...and wasn't too sure about it at all. Almost gave up after a few plays and still don't feel like I've got my head wrapped around the powerups. but now that I seem to be JUST missing or barely making that next star without any extra power I'll be slowly testing those waters...

I'm actually neither of your GH1 / GH3 types...I started when HMX gave the Gamestop managers a copy of RB2 at the managers conference...then I went backwards

What is tedious about the gameplay?

If your wife is enjoying the game, I'd say you're getting your money's worth. If she's not, I'm not sure why you're making her play it.
