Score duel was a completely different way to play rock band.
Why should it not be in there? Why are people not playing it? I've read that rhythm games are dying or already dead. Even the casuals are going to say "well i already have rock band 2" and now people who want to score duel with new dlc might as well continue playing older rock bands.
It's strange really, most developers don't play their games or even have any passion in it. Go to school for music and writing and now they work for a video game studio just because it's a job. I've seen many interviews, they put a lot of work into these games and I think they care about the community but most of them wish they were somewhere else. I can't blame any of that really, that's life and I love what they do anyways but imagine if scorehero made the next rhythm game. Or atleast took most of the ideas from here.
Score duel could have used a huge improvement as well, like making the scores count to leaderboards. Although, kind of lame if you got a score even though you may not legitimately be able to pass the song.
What was wrong with score duel? Too much or too little competition? It's not dead for expert guitar and drums and remember this game has been out a long time. Sure people aren't going to play much score duel when there are only good players but that doesn't mean it's broken or anything. street fighter is one of the hardest learning curve games around and it's primarily online, but if you are new to the game without help from others you will be dominated nearly every game. I love it and have been playing for a couple years but I never seen more used copies of super/street fighter 4 at the my local gamestores. It's not very newcomer friendly, but that's what gives a game a more competitive aspect.
So, hopefully HMX realizes their mistake and adds score duel into Rock Band 3 through a title update.
