DLC Discussion Week of 9/18 - Singles from The Offspring and Smash Mouth!

I want to go on a rampage on how wrong this post is, but I'll just leave it to "If you think differently, that's fine, but don't bash us for wanting something you don't."

They're both pretty awful, IMO.

Accidentally In Love by The Counting Crows was writen for Shrek 2. I'm sure it has more to do with the original owners of the song than with the fact that it was in Shrek.

So glad we got that song. It's my favorite song from Lego Rock Band, my favorite The Counting Crows song, and one of my favorite songs of all time.

If I seem kinda whiny, I just woke up from a really really short nap. And I'm hungry ;_;

Wow. I thought Smash Mouth was one of those almost universally loved bands like The Killers. I've never ever met anyone on this planet whose hated them. I'm pretty blown away.

On the other hand, this week marks the first time a song that's released that I've listened to in my thread! Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Definitely gonna buy, but I would have loved You're Gonna Go Far Kid (my favorite The Offspring song).

I love War's original, and it saddens me when people go around thinking Smash Mouth's is the original and War covered it.

Also I'm kind of annoyed (although the last few weeks have been swell for me) that we always get music from bands that have about 20 songs on Rock Band already.

Smash Mouth have two songs, Matchbox Twenty had 0 songs as of a week ago, Blitz had a bunch of new artists, the first Black Keys pack came out before they hit it big, Nightwish, Hoobastank, Cutting Crew...

I'm honestly surprised at just how much fun I've had with my whole music library (except for Under The Bridge and Never Let Me Down Again.)

Totally agree dude. I'm surprised by how much I've enjoyed Blitz and the time I've put into it so far. Every so often you get a song that's just perfect for it. Dr. Feelgood was outstanding. But so far, my favorite is Phantom of the Opera. SO FUN.

Don't undersell Blitz, man. It's an awesome game once you get down to it.

DEFINITELY not trying to undersell Blitz. Just calling out that faster, poppier, more upbeat songs tend to play better in Blitz from our experience in play testing. It's the difference between One Week versus the Sound of Silence. It's a fast paced, bombastic game, so the more fast paced, bombastic music tends to be more enjoyable to play.

EDIT - Also I'm kind of annoyed (although the last few weeks have been swell for me) that we always get music from bands that have about 20 songs on Rock Band already. Smash Mouth have quite a few, Offspring have loads; we keep getting Foo Fighters and Jesus man there's TOO many Foo Fighters songs on Rock Band to care now. Can't new bands get a chance? Like Say Anything? How many people would buy Alive With the Glory of Love? I would buy it like 20 times over.

Smash Mouth actually only has 2 songs in RB, both released over 2 years ago. The Offspring have 8, but nothing released in the past 3 years. Foo Fighters are, of course, an anomaly, with over 300 songs currently available. Just wanted to call out that we release more DLC from bands that sell really well and are highly requested. We're all for getting new bands in the game (and we've got some good new comers lined up for the fall) but there are also instances where there's clearly a demand for more material for well loved bands.

Under A Raging Moon is probably the only song I'm likely to buy this week.

It looks that way. But opinions and all that. I can't stand "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" but a load of people here were stoked. As long as you enjoy the game, that's the important part.

Yes, and I hope it had enough success for HMX to go back and get Everybody Have A Good Time.

That would be the target. Especially since it seems the Mysterian version of "Can't Get Enough of You Baby" isn't really the original; it was written externally and The Four Seasons got to it first. Still, all their stuff was re-recorded in '97 and they've got other good tracks... here's hoping they respond to an email this time.

Yeah they re-recorded their first album because the original rights were held by Allen Klein (who also holds the rights to a lot of the early Stones stuff, incidentally). That would probably rule out the original material even if it is available, however the Allen Klein-held Stones stuff is all that has ever appeared on a music game so I probably don't know what I'm talking about.

Anyway ? and the Mysterians live right around me, I could just go ask them in person for you heh.
