    1. There was a poster here who said he had a Wii and all the instruments then bought a Wii U and would try out all the instruments to see if they where completely compatible. I don't know if he got back to us, but I'm guessing no. And if that's true then he's a jerk for teasing us about it. But from what I hear, I don't really see any reason why all the instruments wouldn't work. But until I know for sure, I'm not going to verify that and instead just say, "they should all work."

    2. Yes. Wii U basically emulates the Wii so the game and internet connection think you are playing a Wii and not a Wii U. Everything should be compatible DLC wise.

The Wii version gets practically every official song released by Harmonix. By official I mean not Rock Band Network. The few exceptions are things like the complete version of RUSH's 2112 and some others. It's not because they didn't want to it's because the songs where too big to be compatible on the Wii. As for what is missing, I don't think you can find an official list but it's practically the whole RBN catalog. Not all of them since a few where actually ported before Harmonix deemed it financially unviable and pulled the plug on RBN for the Wii.

As someone already mentioned, the Wii didn't get Rock Band Blitz so Harmonix is instead slowly releasing the RBB songs as separate DLC for all systems including the Wii.

    Also the last thing to point out is that Wii/Wii U version of RB3 cannot import;
    Rock Band 1
    AC/DC Rockband
    Lego Rockband

I own a Wii and saddened that I can't get RB1 and Lego Rb. There are some good song there I'd like to play. Ac/DC is okay, but nothing worth crying over. Still hoping for the original versions of AC/DC anyways, hopefully with Pro Upgrades.

An important thing to note is that the Wii never got any of the patches that fixed a lot of the bugs that were in the shipped version of RB3. In particular, if vocals are important to you, the experience can be rough, with several bugs that frequently occur marring the experience. There was a thread a long time ago in the support forum that listed all of the bugs but I'm too lazy to find and link it. If you have another option than the Wii, the experience is considerably better.

Here is a list of Rock Band Network (RBN) songs that are available on the Wii:

    Thanks for the info, guys.

I scrolled through the list of RBN songs and only recognized like 2 of them so whatever. And I don't care about anything prior to RB3. I am a keyboard player, afterall

I can confirm that all official Rock Band peripherals (especially the keyboard) work with the Wii U. I would assume that everything third party would work as well as it does on the Wii but don't own any so can't confirm. One thing RB3 on the Wii U is missing at the moment is a connection to the leaderboards. I have contacted Nintendo about it (according to hmxhenry it has to be on their side) and will advise of their response when I get it.

This. This all the way. I switched from Wii to 360 about 3 years ago. I had about 200 songs total, so about 130 bought.

I now have almost 700 songs and with the RBN the 360 is the best system to play Rock Band on. Plus with the 360 you can export all the songs from previous games and you don't have to deal with several SD cards.

You can get an xbox 360 for like $50 on Craigslist. Use the saved 250-300 to buy some rock band songs.

I might be tempted to go with a PS3, but never a 360. Not until they either give me the console for free, or permanently remove the ads from the dashboard.

PS3 had XMB adds, but only in the initial screen (lets you know about sales) and the scroll bar in the top corner (infinitely ignorable).

Why, does the 360 have like, product adds all over the dashboard?

The Dashboard ads aren't as bad as people make them out to be. The only one that often has nothing to do with games or any of the 360's features is the one in the corner. Most of the other ads are direct links to new releases and sales.

If there are ads there and they're still charging money for the console, then it's as bad as people make them out to be. I'll give them a pass if they're showing game-related ads in the store where you buy games, but not on the dashboard. That is unacceptable.

But hey, if you don't mind ads plastered all over products you pay hundreds of dollars for (and probably paying more money on top of that for a 'Gold' account to access features that other devices don't charge for), then you obviously have a higher tolerance for them than I do.
