Implying there's a new Sony conosole anytime soon. I personally think it won't be for at least 2 years, maybe even more, like 5 or 6 years or something. I lol everytime I see a false PS4 anouncement.

I doubt it will be 5-6 years.. But to me, makes more sense 2-3 years.

i don't know anything about the xbox, but ps3 instruments use dongles for the wireless connection. unless they just completely change the controller standards entirely, i don't see any reason why those wouldn't work for a new console.
don't RB instruments on xbox use the same wireless technology as all other xbox controllers? why would microsoft make ALL their wireless controllers obsolete? doesn't seem like a smart move to me.
Microsoft only cares about your wallet. Also, PS2 instruments works, those without USB port you just need a PS1/PS2 <-> USB adapter. I'm curious about the Wii instruments on the Wii U though.

Most signs are pointing to the Nextbox in 2013, which isn't too far away. As for Sony... who knows. Probably late 2013 or 2014 is my guess. Depends how competitive they want to be with Microsoft.
Most rumors say no backwards compatibility, if that turned out to be true (and known ahead of time) here's a chance for a clean slate for anybody wanting the opposite system of what they have now.
That'd be nice for all the stuff downloaded for various games over the years. Problem is...will you have said game to play it in? Hopefully it will be addressed soon.

I say it's almost a certainty. People have amassed a lot of DLC over the past few years. The console makers don't want you to leave their platform when the next competitor arrives. If your old DLC is rendered null and void in the next generation, it's a perfect jumping off point away from your current console. It's supremely in the best interest of the companies to move your data with you to their next product.
I'd imagine that controllers will also carry over. It takes time and money to invent a new standard. The current ones are advanced enough to handle next gen games.
