As far as licensing goes... The only licensing issues I have remembered were on disc songs. It seems as if the DLC songs were licensed diferently as almost all DLC songs have moved from game to game with very minimal issues. Kinda seems like if I paid for the on disc songs, I had to pay separately to use those songs in another game. If I paid for a DLC song, I alraedy paid for the rights to that download playable in anything that could use it.... example: I can play the Judas Priest album in RB1, RB2, Lego RB (Outside of censorship rating issues) RB 3, and RB Blitz.

Instruments could be a sticking point, but it would seem that some solution would be implemented...

Another issue may come up... what if I kept the old system? How long would its online network stay up and support the game.... The idea of purchasing digital content is relatively new and these kind of challenges will have to be over come... It will be interesting. Some of us have spent thousands of dollars on DLC across multiple games and other Downloaded Content. Will that money go to waste at some point? I certainly hope not!!!!

They stay up for years after, at the least, and your content isn't gone when the servers go. It's still sitting right there on your storage device. This is not new.

Exactly right. I had a PlayStation, then a PS2. The reason I switched to Xbox 360 was because the PS3 was not backwards compatible. Since I was a Rock Band player, I decided to switch over since 360 is really the best console for Rock Band.
