I have had many Warbeasts. I love it (overall), the strumbar is not mushy like the fenders, and not AS clicky as the playskool, uh I mean GH guitars, it is just right!

If you are buying it from somewhere that offers an extended warranty, by all means GET IT! The Warbeast is the best guitar out there of this type. That being said, there have been some issues.

The first gen had an issue with the neck wearing out and losing connection, I had one of those, it took literally years to wear out for me though, I am an adult and don't thrash my stuff, there is rarely a week that goes by where I don't play RockBand. Dreamgear went WAY above and beyond and replaced this one numerous times, see below...

The second gen has an issue with strumbar switches being bad pretty quickly, I had several of these, in a short period of time. Finally I had my brother in law find a switch to replace the one in the guitar and now I am happy again.

Further, sometimes you get one with the usual overdrive issue that plagues ALL makes of guitars (mine does, will investigate and fix eventually). And then the Warbeast has a quirky connection routine, basically start the game and THEN plug in the dongle, then it should be fine.

Thanks man, I'm about to read your article. I saw a guitar at Winners yesterday for 79.99 and picked it up today. It beats buying one online for $130. Your article no longer exists.

I picked up this guitar last night and played it for two hours with no problems. Today it won't connect to my PS3. The red light on the dongle stops flashing when I turn the guitar on but the DG symbol on the guitar won't light up. Is this a common issue and is there a simple fix?

Try the sync operation a couple times and if that does not work, call Dreamgear. 877-999-3732

I had TWO Warbeast dongles just stop working for no apparent reason, called DG, sent them back and they sent me two working ones. They are still selling them so hopefully they still support them. I was NOT asked for a receipt or anything, just to send them back first.

Are you using an unpowered USB hub? If yes try using a powered one, or plug it directly in the PS3. If not, then I don't know.

Just remember to be IN the game BEFORE you plug in the dongle. If it rtuly doesn't work call Dreamgear right away and they will probably send you a new dongle.
