Really, for something that cheap, anything new is going to be a beater.
In the end that's what I'm going to do.

I should be going to get one of these on Wednesday.

The vintage v1004dx looks good on paper and I'm getting it for 220 €.

    It's a vintage v1004dx by wilkinson:

    http://www.jhs.co.uk/vintagebass.html

click on the interactive catalog at the top of the page to find them

I've seen them sold new at around 450€ , this one came used for 240 with a soft carry case. I'm a huge fan of natural look/ non finished instruments, and of neck through body designs so I really love this. Also it has Wilkinson mechanics and electronics which are very good quality.

Only one thing, if you play guitar and you think you have calluses, picking up a bass will give you a whole new perspective on finger pain! My tips are on fire!!!

I bought my first bass, a Squier Vintage Jaguar. Now I have to wait for it to arrive for pickup.

    Hurry up!

Ooooh, let's start a band, Lawdog. You can sing while you're playing bass. We'll be the next Rush.
If these walls could talk, the stories they'd tell,
and if they did, there'd be a whole lot of hell.

Wouldn't he have to play keys with his feet too?
