It's a US code. US PSN uses 12 digit codes. The contest was technically only open to US residents (though some enterprising Canadians and others who can play US-store DLC have tagged along by redeeming through a US-store account).

I'll take your code if you're not using it.

All you have to do to use a US code is make a US account. The DLC can be played on your non-US account. Its not that difficult.

He's in Finland. On the PS3, a EU copy of the game only works with EU DLC. Canadians can play US DLC (NA is NA in all respects except cash tracking) just fine, but Finns can't unless they've been importing NA games and buying NA DLC all along.

Give It Away (Hey that would be a great title for a song) to an American. The codes don't even work in Canada.

Canadians can redeem through a US-store account, which is trivial to make, buy the DLC with that account, and then play the DLC with their main (Canadian) account. My main (Canadian) account has logged scores for War Pigs and Moonage Daydream, but has never purchased them. There exists a US-based account (with a profile on my system) that has purchased those two songs but has never played a game.

The-rest-of-the-worldians could redeem the code through a US-store account, but because NA DLC isn't compatible with non-NA games (like RB3s sold at retail in Europe, or RBBlitz sold via the Europe-based PS Store servers) , it wouldn't be of much utility to them.

If it were more than two bucks, I could see setting up a US account.

Actually completing the goal took about 24 minutes (6 songsx5 stars, avg 4 minutes each). Setting up the US account once I realized I couldn't redeem in the Canadian one took about another 3 minutes. You don't need to validate your email address or anything.

Mine says the goal is locked, and I have no idea how to earn badges?!

You need 2 Medium badges to be able to do Hard goals.

You get a Medium badge for completing a Medium goal. They generally require you to get 30 stars by a specific artist or from a specific decade, and they generally begin with the word "Medium". You can complete them in either Blitz or RB3, but any given song only counts towards the goal once (they used to count one Blitz performance and one RB3 performance of the same song as distinct progress but they don't anymore).

The fastest way to get two badges would be to pick an artist you have an album pck from, and sign up for both that artst's medium goal and the medium goal for the decade in which the album was released. So each song would count its weight in progress towards two goals. Six five star performances (or 7 or 8 lesser scores if necessary) = two medium goals complete.

90s and Pearl Jam (if you have "Ten")
00s and Pearl Jam (if you have "Backspacer")
90s and Red Hot Chili Peppers ("Blood Sugar Sex Magik")*
90s and Foo Fighters (if you have "The Color and the Shape")
80s and Iron Maiden (if you have "Iron Maiden 01" - skip the "Live" songs)

Each No Doubt pack goes entirely with a specific decade (one with the 90s and one with the 00s).

Queen and The Who can be well-covered with 70s, you may have to be a little picky about which songs you do though (to avoid wasting time on songs outside your decade-goal). Queen has a lot of 80s as well.

*(You may prefer to defer doing Blood Sugar Sex Magik until you already have two Medium goals so you can sign up for the Blood Sugar Sex Magik hard-goal and get three goals at once)

I redeemed on my Canadian account and it worked fine. I don't think any of the US Only stuff needs to be on a US Account. Canadian accounts seem to work for 360 at least.

as a side note - I seem to be 1 song short on the RB1 playthrough goal - I have no idea which song I may have missed as it doesn't keep track of them all g-dammit.

Edit - Nevermind I saw it lists every song played underneath the goal - ii thought it cropped it - missed replaying Tom Sawyer.
