DLC Skipping/Freezing - Has anyone tried upgrading their hard drive?

I have 800 DLC songs downloaded and the most recent ones seem to skip/freeze. I have tried deleting and redownloading several times. I have used different internet connections as well as I thought that maybe the signal was being interfered with. I have cleared my cache. Nothing has worked to fix the problem.

Then I came across refurbished hard drives that are faster on Amazon. These drives run at 7200RPM compared to what most of us received with the Xbox at 5400RPM. Maybe my hard drive isn't fast enough to keep up?

I have also considered reformatting my current hard drive (320GB) and redownloading everything. I have seen many threads on the skipping/freezing and the solutions recommended haven't worked for me. Anybody tried either of these suggestions to fix their skipping?

Re: DLC Skipping/Freezing - Has anyone tried upgrading their hard drive?

So after 400 views and no replies, I splurged and bought the faster hard drive with the plan to keep only Rockband on this new one and all my other games on the other drive. I will post here once I have received it and downloaded everything again as to whether or not it worked. My feeling is that my current drive is fragmented from all the use and too slow to keep up. The new drive should fix both these issues.

    Re: DLC Skipping/Freezing

The hard drive arrived. For a little background - I have about 800 songs for the Rockbands and a couple other games that also have some DLC. I have had my Xbox for about 3 years and it is the 360GB (5400 RPM).

So, I didn't realize how slow my Xbox got with all the updates and DLC content that I had stored on it. I used about 100GB of the 360GB available. I plugged in the 120GB (7200 RPM) hard drive that I bought off of Amazon and fired it up. It used to take me about 3 to 5 minutes from powering on to playing Rockband. The white Xbox screen alone was about a minute to load. It now takes about 20 seconds. I have all my DLCs reloaded on this faster drive and have not had any freezing/skipping issues at all. My Rockband used to be extremely slow on the "song list" screen while trying to pick what I wanted to play. That issue is gone as well. This is a no brainer for anyone ticked about all that hard earned money spent on Rockband and can't fix the skipping/freezing.

I am going to reformat my old drive and use that only for my other games. I have a feeling that reformatting may have fixed the problem too but I was very interested in a faster HD as well.
