Freezing issue in RB Blitz (tied to # of songs played?)

Are those the same folks that couldn't figure out the XMB crash on PS3?
Or are they more focused now that it actually affects Xbox 360 users too?

It's actually a separate issue entirely, because Blitz stores significantly more data on the servers rather that as a part of the game itself. That's why the Rock Central connection is such an integral part of Blitz gameplay, and while it's sometimes seen as a hindrance, it's actually a benefit for making quicker and easier server side fixes as we have already done with the coin economy and the Power-up balancing. Similar issues in RB3 would have required a patch, but because the two systems are so different we've been able to resolve quicker.

As for the difference between how the 360 and PS3 communicate with the servers, well that's a whole different ball of wax. Each console has proprietary technology and their own set of standards for how games talk to them, what data the servers have access to, etc. Some problems are easier to parse than others, and sometimes that means a quicker resolution on PS3 than on 360.

So while these are, at first glance, "server communications issues", the cause and solution are as different as apples and oranges. They're both fruits, but that doesn't mean they're the same fruit.

According to facebook, i'm not even half way towards the song number, but my game has stared freezing and making me restart my PS3. I'm already dealing with enough issues with RB3, so I really really am not in the mood to endure even more of this stuff from another one of your games. Please, do whatever you need to do and fix this game, and sort your awful servers out too.

I've had a few freezes myself. But if you can still boot it up and play a song without freezing every time then you aren't locked out of playing the game yet.

To be fair, it's disappointing but a lot more understandable that the XMB crash in RB3 couldn't be found, because that one isn't nearly as reproducible. Because the Blitz crash happens every single time at the same place after playing any song given a certain set of conditions, it was probably much easier for the QA people to reproduce it, which is the first step in solving it. The XMB crash is so random and relatively infrequent for most people that it's almost impossible to isolate the circumstances that cause it.

Just this past weekend I had played several hours of RB3 since I can't play Blitz, and I played around 7 hours with only one crash. Sometimes I've even gone several days, and other times it will be much more frequent, but because it happens at such various points (during menu scrolling, right before a song starts, even a few seconds after a song starts) there's just no way to tell exactly what the cause is compared to something like what's happening with Blitz.

Usually I only get the XMB crash when I try to play a game online, which happens very often to either me or another player which makes 4 player band almost impossible. This is hardly why I ever play RB3 online anymore or even RB3 to begin with. Not already counting the terrible connection issues with Rock Band Central on the PS3 version of the game. I hope this bug is fixed soon though. Please don't let Blitz share the same bug fate as Rock Band 3(PS3 Version) .

Yeah I know, but now i'm worried about playing the game and passing the song limit. Which shouldn't really be happening, hope they fix it soon, but then I look at RB3 and wonder if it will be fixed, we all know how that game still plays :/

I don't know if you saw hmxhenry's post from Friday that they're hoping to start rolling out the fix tomorrow. So keep your fingers crossed that all goes well.

I'm at 1015 songs played. I've got 18 songs left to gold star and plenty more that I don't mind playing again, so I'm not dead in the water like the people who have actually hit the bug. But I do have almost 2000 songs and am anxious to play many of them. Should I just play myself into the bug and come here for the ManuFix(TM)? Any word on when that will be available? I know the last ETA was today. And now it's today, so...
