Seriously? I, for the most part, thing that the OP's got the right idea. I think that ATF, possibly you're taking rebuttals too seriously or maybe personally. FWIW, I see plenty of times (mostly in the discussion threads) that people think that HMX is going bankrupt, it's the end of DLC, they screwed A, B, and C up, etc. I can think of two examples immediately of folks who have zero hesitation calling them out for what they think as being done wrong with this wonderful game.

I think Harmonix is a pretty great company. They take the time to work with the community, respond to us when we gripe, and thank us when they get the positive feedback. The games are amazing and have gotten me so much more into music even I'm amazed. (Example: I bought the Squier after G.A.S.-fueled ION upgrades, so I'm into this genre by about $2K. I heard a clip of "Midnight Rider" and was able to pick up said real stringed guitar and managed to figure out how to play that first bit without any help. That's how far this game's gotten me into music.) Having said all that: I still think that there should've been more emphasis on fixing the XMB boot issue, and the clipping with the animation for those who watch that, I don't think you should have to play through every instrument to unlock all the goodies for the character-focused players, and I wish a different approach had been taken with the Pro Guitar charts and how they're shown. I don't think that makes me a fanboy at all. But then, my definition of "fanboy" is someone who only sees what's good in something. Which is not healthy at all.

As for the other stuff? Yeah, it shouldn't be, "Welcome to the Internet." That's an automatic excuse to be a douche.

Every word. Did you read what I wrote? In summation: just because they disagree with you and think what HMX is doing is fine, that doesn't automatically mean they're a fanboy or can't handle a debate.

You aren't understanding, then.

First off, I don't think I ever mentioned discussions about HMX going bankrupt or anything. Frankly, I think that's kind of a non-issue and nobody would know enough first-hand to discuss it intelligently.

Secondly, even if I did, I wouldn't care if people went "I don't think HMX is going bankrupt" because that's an actual rebuttal (assuming they go into their reasoning as to why) and contributes to conversation.

I'm talking about...

"This is what I think about recent DLC releases (or other issues)"

"I disagree and this is why"

"I see your point of view. Blah blah blah"

"On the contrary, blah blah blah"

And then both people learn something. This is how any real conversation goes. What I'm tired of is...

"This is what I think about recent DLC releases (or other issue)"

"HMX is so nice! Don't talk to them like that!" (shutting down opinion on the basis that it's not nice and therefore invalid)

...or...

"This is what I think about recent DLC releases (or other issue)"

"You're an idiot / You're so entitled" (discrediting the validity of the person giving their viewpoint)

...or...

"This is what I think about recent DLC releases (or other issue)"

"I like penguins!" (avoiding topic of discussion for fear of conflict)

What's great about this community is that it has very little contention and stuff like that. I think that contributes to a lot of what I mentioned earlier, but it is a great characteristic.

I do see your point but I think I'm not here enough to see a significant amount of what you're describing. I've seen a lot of threads collectively say, "SQUIRREL!!" but that's mostly the derailing that I've seen. Your first example is what I like to see, too. I do get tired of, "SOURCE OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!"
