i was considering buying the rockband stage kit.

If you can find one, buy it! Great bit of kit and yes you can use it without fog.

Although it looks a lot better when you start modding them, like this

Personally I'd buy legit stage equipment. Get a fog machine for $40 and you can reuse it for Halloween.

But the Stage Kit is not just any piece of stage equipement. The lights are programmed specifically for each track. Also, there is software about that will allow you to use it from a windows PC, so you can use it for halloween if you want.

This thread sort of renewed my interest in the stage kit. In fact, it did so to the point of convincing me to buy one used for a little under $70 on ebay yesterday. It was listed at $80, but it was one of those "Buy it Now or Best Offer" listings and we came to that price after just a little bit of bartering. Oh how I wish I had picked one up when they weren't selling and every store was just trying to get rid of them for $20 or so. Still though they normally go for at least $80 used these days and that's still less than they cost when they first came out, and they're only going to get harder to find and more expensive as time goes on, so I'm not too broken up over the cost. I can't wait to get it and try it out.
