I just checked, and doubled flame and doubled finale do NOT increase Doubler score. In a testing run, I only activated Doubler twice in the song - once I made sure the only note I hit was a flame note, and once I activated it after the last note of the song but before finale. My final doubler subcategory score was 0. The doubled flame note went entirely into the flame note subcategory, and the doubled finale went entirely into the Finale category.

It's really ****ing frustrating then to get so many points as a result of doubler only to find this doesn't contribute towards your doubler subscore at all, and you're effectively wasting a doubler activation for the purposes of this goal to try to, you know, maximize your doubled score with it.

Now that I know that using doubler to double things worth doubling is doubly useless, I succeeded at the goal the very next try.

As it turns out, the goal itself isn't hard - as long as you know the mechanics of what does and does not get logged as "Point Doubler" subscore (which most of us didn't). If you enter the song expecting that if you double your flame notes and endings that the extra points resulting from the doubler would get tallied as doubler subscore... you'll just wind up using the wrong purple powerups, wasting your doubler activations at the absolute wrong places, and while contributing to an outstanding song score, your use of doubler won't actually help your doubler subscore.

Did Captain Jackpot on first run.

I don't think I'll be able to complete Point Doubler of Know Return... I did a comfortable-GS run with the Point Doubler powerup enabled, focussed entirely on getting doubler points... and still came up more than 10,000 points short.

I'd like to think the target score for any goal requires approximately a GS performance using that powerup and focussed on that powerup... but for me, for this one, the two aren't even close. When a comfortable-GS performance isn't even close to good enough, the goal is out of my league.

I got like 500 over the goal with super guitar and blast notes. The trick seems to be waiting patiently till your OD is nearly full and you've maxed the multipliers. I was impressed it only took me 3 tries though.
