    Question Your favorite comic book(s)?

I've loved comics since I was six, which means I've been collecting since I was six. My first memories of buying comics was down at a little five and dime located in a small ass Arizona town. I was buying the Alan Moore run Swamp Thing's back when they cost twenty-five cents. Man, comics are expensive now! So my question to all of you (that are into comics) is what are you're favorite comics?

I love Uncanny X-Men, and I have a single issue run from about 195 to the last issue 544. It's taken 52me over 20 years of collecting to amass this collection of Uncanny. Love them all and still looking to find earlier issues that aren't an arm and a leg. I've also been slowly collecting Swamp Thing (series 2) back issues but those are a bit harder to come by. I do dig a bunch of different comics and publishing houses. Lately I been into the new Swamp Thing (series 5) and one of DC's The New 52, Justice League Dark. Good stuff right there! So RB community, what comics do you love?

Also what post wouldn't be mine where I don't pimp out my blog (located in my Sig line), which has a list of what comics I think rock down on the right hand column near the bottom of my page. Give it a look if you're so inclined. Thanks

My favorites... I'll have to think about it.

    Marvel:

I loved The Runaways. Great story about a group of teens who discover their parents are part of an evil organization. Then they discover that each of them has a super power that their parents have been hiding from them.

Avengers Academy was pretty cool but I think it recently got cancelled. That was a bunch of teens (mostly mutants) that were tortured by Norman Osbourne into using their powers to their fullest before they were ready. Hank Pym gathers them together and trys to make them a team and help reverse the damage Osbourne did.

    DC:

None. I really should read some sometime but other then Batman they don't seem as interesting as Marvel's books.

    Image:

Walking Dead of course. I love that it's a zombie book without an end.

I recently caught up on Saga. It's a newer series only 6 issues long at the moment. It's hard to explain really. It's about these two people who just had a kid and their people are at war with each other. It blends scifi and fantasy and just has beautiful artwork.

Thanks, MagicMurderBag7, I might have to check out the Runaways, that sounds really good. Besides early Swamp Thing (2nd series) and some occasional Batman issues from back in the day (Death in the Family, The Many Deaths of Batman, and The Killing Joke) I had never really read anything else until I read the Blackest Night HC just last year. I was blown away with the writing and the enormity of the story (artwork is pretty nice too), so when DC relaunched their entire line I grabbed Swamp Thing and Justice League Dark and I haven't been disappointed. If you're never read Hellblazer or Preacher, stop what you doing and check em' out. Same goes for Y: The Last Man. Excellent stuff.

I was going to read Y: The Last Man next actually. I just got back from Comic Con over the weekend and picked up some cheap Fantastic Four and Uncanny X-Men trades that I wanted to read first.

My all time favorite comic stories: Preacher, Batman: Year One, Batman: Dark Night Returns, Avengers Vol 3 (the Busiek / Perez run up to the Johns / Coipel run), Avengers: Under Siege, Scott Pilgrim, the Johns / Kolins run on The Flash, the Morrison / Quitely run on New X-Men, the Lee / Kirby run on Fantastic Four, the Byrne run on Fantastic Four, Teenagers From Mars, Gotham Central, Punisher MAX with Garth Ennis writing, Justice League International, All Star Superman, Daredevil: Born Again, Daredevil Vol 2 as written by Bendis and Brubaker, Squadron Supreme, Sin City: The Hard Goodbye, Golden Age, Demo, Grant Morrison's JLA, DC Universe: The Stories of Alan Moore, the Busiek / Nord run on Conan, Starman Vol 2, DMZ, Transmetropolitan, and Sandman: Preludes and Nocturnes. Marvel's Silver Age is my favorite era and most of what I collect now as far as back issues go.

Favorite comics coming out right now: The Goon, Atomic Robo, Hellblazer, Thunderbolts, Invincible Iron Man, Journey Into Mystery, Battlefields, Unwritten, Fables, Daredevil, Uncanny X Force, and Criminal.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton of stuff. I worked in a comic book store for 10 years before coming to HMX, and I read about a trade paperback a day. ALL COMICS, ALL THE TIME.

I'm with Henry on really digging Silver Age Marvel comics. It's been ages since I've actively collected comics, though (I think the Age of Apocalypse storyline for Marvel was the last thing I really got into).

Some other favorites from later eras are Watchmen and Sandman (not exactly original, but they're classics for a reason), Neil Gaiman's 1602, and X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills.

Also, Peter David's run on X-Factor was fantastic. I loved his take on Quicksilver.
