    Frustrating ION problem

My ions have performed great for three years now, but lately I've run into a problem that has me pulling my hair out...

Whenever I hit a yellow cymbal, green cymbal and kick at the same time, the yellow cymbal will trigger a yellow tom instead and my combo drops. It started out maybe 1 in 20 hits, but it's now up to 1 of every 2 hits at least. Sometimes I'll finish an entire song and every one of these note combinations will drop like this.

This is obviously only happening in pro mode, and only with this combination of notes - I'm getting no other crosstalk, double hits, drops or mistriggers of any kind. I've read about static problems and have taken to wiping my kit down before & after every session. I also took the ion controller's casing apart & wiped the inside down. I use good cables and change them out for new ones every so often. I'm using Pintech TC cymbals if that means anything. Please, someone, help...

I don't know much stuff about e-drum kits, but can you try another port on the brain? Maybe the MIDI adapter doesn't like those 3 triggers at the same time I don't know.

I have an ION drum rocker and have fixed all of those problems by doing exactly what you did... If it's registering the wrong note, that's probably something wrong with the module. If you have your module insulated with anything such as dryer sheets or tape, make sure it isn't interfering with the circuit board. That's all I can think of. Perhaps your cymbals aren't supported completely? Sorry if this isn't of any help...

So I bought a new ION controller & the problem still persists...

I ran the kit through my studio's MIDI setup (Alesis I/O & various sample collections through Toontrack's Superior Drums in Reaper DAW) and had no problems whatsoever. I also used the ION controller thru an old USB-MIDI converter with the same results.

Searching around the 'net, I've found that this is a common issue with both XBox & PS3. Not just the ION controller, but the MIDI Pro Adapter w/misc. drum brain also. I'm convinced that this is a software problem. Since RB3 is notoriously broken software and it was only really tested with stock peripherals...

There are plenty of examples on YT of this stuff popping up - it's just about ruined the game for me. That has me pretty irritated, considering the money that I (and so many others) have spent makes this more of an investment than a disposable entertainment experience.
