    Reinforced Butt Joints

I'm not a huge fan of butt joints but sometimes they're your only option. In situations that require you to use a butt joint, I feel you should reinforce it.

What's your favorite way to reinforce your butt joint?

I've always been partial to the screwed butt joint. You know where the screws are usually inserted into an edge on the long grain side of one member and extend through the joint into the end grain of the adjacent member.

I love fastening down knockers left and right, but sometimes you just really need to screw a biscuit into that joint.

If you are having a hard time deciding, you may be more suited to Bush carpentry.

OK after a little further research I have to admit tongue in groove works extremely well and gets the job done too.

Have to say I see the dowel reinforced (mortise and tenon simplified) seems like a no brainer here.
    Where's the dado choice?

Scary indeed. That makes 2 or 3 of these

Plywood has greatly reduced the need for tongue and groove, however even plywood may be tongued to fit flush into a frame fitting.
