Oh snap, I should buy those. I'm usually in the habit of finishing off the back catalogues of recently released DLC artists.

Why didn't you have those already? They are amazing, especially Blue Sky. Easily one of the best guitar tracks ever released.

Very, very true, I don't think there's any song I enjoy playing more on guitar from a pure gameplay perspective. That and Blue Sky and Jessica are both in my top three ABB tracks, so I'm waiting for HMX to make it 3 for 3 and release Pegasus for RB as well.

Basically, by the time I even got into the whole DLC shindig, these songs were pretty old by RB standards, and I didn't have a clue what Blue Sky was. I don't mean to be narrow minded, but back then, I only listened to newly released DLC that I'd never heard before. I left old ones alone.

I knew Midnight Rider, though, and I wasn't sure why I didn't buy it for ages until I played it just today; it's pretty mediocre. Blue Sky is awesomesauce, though.

Makes me wonder if HMX wasn't given all of the stems for the song, or if it was errouneously omitted.

Care to weigh in on this HMXHenry?

So yeah I wouldn't mind hearing what HMXHenry has to say.
I just got word on this from the director of our Audio department (bonus trivia: you know him as the guitarist in Tribe and as the champion for classic Boston bands like The Pixies, Mission of Burma, and Big Dipper) and his response was interesting enough that I'm copying it below in full.

So there you have it. It's always cool digging into questions like this. Happy to dive deeper when interesting questions pop up about the DLC.

It is an honor to be quoted, Henry, honestly. That quote, however, was my ranting about a different thing (not my proudest moment, it was an emotionally-driven overreaction really). I did notice, though, that something sounded different about the background vocals on I Melt With You. I didn't complain about that, though, because it is a great song, anyway.

Edit P.S.: Ah, you removed it, thanks. The sentences about I Melt With You still apply. It was a great week of DLC. And I know next week will not be for everyone, but I like both of the songs very much.

Oops, I didn't mean to quote you there. Sorry. I saw your post and was going to respond, but figured everyone else had jumped down your throat enough that my response would likely do more harm than good.

Sorry you were bummed a few people accidentally got a song that they didn't want and then had to wait a few hours for us to fix the mix up. It wasn't deliberate and if we could have prevented it we would have. But there wasn't really anything we could have done, since removing the song they accidentally got wasn't an option and charging them for the song they accidentally got wasn't an option.

If it makes you feel any better, virtually no one saw it as a positive and they were mostly bent at the inconvenience.

Yes, I understand, Henry. And I really had no place to complain about it, it was just reactionary. The forum reaction to my post left a much longer impression to me than the actual song mix-up.
