Here's where we discuss math rock

I love math rock, but I don't know enough math rock bands. Here are some good ones I can recommend.
    1. Giraffes? Giraffes!
    2. You <a word that the forum won't allow me to use, but it's a derogatory term for a woman that rhymes with "butt">
    3. Porcupine Tree
    4. Tool

    I crave more!

Are you sure "slut" isn't allowed on the forums?

But yeah, I don't know about most of those bands being math rock, but I love stuff like Slint, Drive Like Jehu, and Battles.

Rock (usually instrumental) with weird time signatures, precise fast drumming, changing time signatures and tempo. A popular example of a math rocky song is "La Villa Strangiatto." Rush has some math rock stuff, but I wouldn't call them a math rock band.

Essentially, but with less awesome mustaches. And instead of lyrics about Ayn Rand or Shakespeare, vocals are usually just for the sake of the sound of the voice.
(this thread is open to prog as well)

Wouldn't consider Porcupine Tree or Tool math rock per se... but I like Battles, occasionally like Tera Melos, and some of the mathier post-rock bands like Tortoise and Mogwai are interesting as well.

Also some interesting crossovers between the math rock and post-metal space, in particular Red Sparowes and Russian Circles.
