Clementine is arguably the most important character since the majority of the plot is all for the sake of her well-being, but Lee is the main character. He is the one you control, he is the one who you speak through, he is the one that makes the decisions based on what you choose, and he is the only one present in every scene except the epilogue. They foreshadow Clementine being the main character for season two when you control her for a couple steps near the very end of the game, but again, let's not get ahead of ourselves here and say she's the main character of season one
