make all future HMX games have unlockable outfits/ cosmetic changes that can be purchased with RBworld coins!
(but please, oh god please only make it for cosmetic things, not things that are actually required/useful in said future game)
5+ years, 4,000+ songs, 1 awesome developer. Thank you!
While I don't mind the current coin economy, a good change would simply be drop a 0 on all coin costs and rewards in Blitz itself, but leave goals alone.
So, when you get 0-60 coins and a full load-out costs 55, that 3,000 coin goal looks a lot more interesting to complete. Folks who reload a lot could earn their fill of coins with just a few goals vs having to grind.
Just a thought.
Edit: Aslo, I hope coins get integrated into the next game in some way, as they make an OK currency for all kinds of stuff, and could make the cross-play between Blitz and a new RB (or whatever they do with them) even more fun.
That sounds pretty good. Or just make goals worth more coins than they are or make harder goals with higher payouts. It'd be nice if there was a new Expert level of goals that are worth a ton of coins.
I just play They're Red Hot 6 times in a row and get 3,000 coins which is like a typical goal's reward.
While we don't have any plans to further tweak the coin economy in Blitz, if we did, it'd likely be something like the above.
The coin system is tied into too many parts of the game that we wouldn't be able to yank it out entirely, so that's not even an option. But, as seen previously, we have been able to modify the reward structure. At launch there were a lot of reasonable complaints about feeling forced to grind on songs to earn enough coins and the reward threshold not being high enough, which is why we changed the coin economy in the first place.
People that were earning enough coins previously, are earning more than enough now. People that weren't earning enough previously should be earning enough now. If people weren't earning enough before and they aren't earning enough now then there's likely very little we could do for them.
We've got a pretty good look at player stats (and better in game reporting than RB3 in general) so we're able to see what the average player is getting star wise, what their average coin earning is, what the average power up load out is, how many people are replaying songs, how many people restart songs, all that stuff. Almost across the board, complaints and criticisms about coin distribution went down after we made that first tweak post launch. That obviously doesn't mean it's perfect for everyone, but for the vast majority of players I think we've found the sweet spot of coins charged versus coins rewarded.
But to PedroRVD's point I quoted above, there has always been a lot of additional discussion about what else we could do with coins to make them a more desirable / valuable in game commodity. Using coins to "peek" at an opponent's Power-up load out was the first real experiment with this idea. But could someone spend coins to extend a Score War a day so they had additional time to catch up? Could they be redeemed to allow a player to create in game Goals in RB World? Could users spend them to do things on the forums like buy a custom title? We bounced around a lot of ideas and while we'd like to do more to increase the value of coins, but it'd require a bunch of dev resources (especially Web resources) that we don't have at the moment. Chances are slim, but if we changed anything, that's what we'd likely change: added functionality for coins rather than stripping it out entirely.
Glad to finally see a response, thanks Henry! Altho, not sure if you saw my suggestion which I don't even know if its possible, but it would make Blitz more fun. Its posts 183 & 186 in the tweaks thread. Do you think it would be possible?
