Man, after reading HMHenry's hint diatribe thing last night, I was hoping we were getting Counting Crows. Don't get me wrong, Black Crowes is awesome, but Counting Crows is easily one of my favorite bands. Can't believe the only track we have by them is off the Shrek 2 soundtrack!!

If I can get nitpicky for a second, I hope these get sorted under the Southern Rock genre. I hate getting Southern Rock setlists in Road Challenges because 95% of my Southern Rock songs are all from the 1970s (and a few CCRs from the 60s). Putting these under Southern Rock would bring a little more diversity to the genre (at least in my library).
    775 Tracks: RB + RB2 + LRB + AC/DC + GDRB + Blitz + 22 RBN + 423 DLC

    Interesting to know.

I was just curious because that cover was released so early in the RB DLC cycle (the first year, if I'm remembering right) that here we are now 4 years after the release of the cover getting masters from a band we previously only had a cover of.
May 20th, 2012: 4 long years since HMX released "Hysteria" by Muse. The wait for more Muse DLC has to end at some point, right?

Thanks. We all appreciate knowing this.

I'm sure I'm not the only person here who never bought "Juke Box Hero", "Bang a Gong", etc. because we were holding out for master versions once we saw "Run to the Hills (Original Version)" and "Fortunate Son (Original Version)" come out. Particularly since you guys subsequently released other masters by Foreigner and T-Rex.

If they're definitely never coming, I'll pick up the covers.

don't forget it's now a few years old as well. that half-cookie could come in handy if you want to hang some pictures and you don't have a hammer.

In the case of Hard to Handle, where the cover is great, and quite close to the original, I am very happy you chose to release different songs as opposed to the the original. I mean I would buy it and everything, but I'd much rather get a new song.

Never say never! And you're not allowed to scream if the original versions come out the week after you finally buy the "as made famous by..." versions. But yes, it IS good to find out this kind of information. I always guessed that, most of the time, the cover versions were made when the band refused to give permission for their masters to be used, especially in the early days when Harmonix didn't have a long enough track record for people to know they could be trusted. And, based on this assumption, it seemed reasonable to hope that many "original versions" could be added to Rock Band, all Harmonix would have to do at this point is decide, "yeah, we should make a new version", ask the band again, and their stellar reputation would get it done.

But it sounds like this is not normally the real explanation. Good to know.

I'll never say DEFINITELY, but it's certainly unlikely. For me, the equation looks a bit like: Want To Play The Track minus Affinity For The Original divided by Odds Of A Cover Being Replaced By A Master (Given the DLC Odds Over 5 Years) plus How Many Years Am I Willing To Wait For This Thing To Maybe Get Released. Plus, the legacy covers are only $1 at this point, and if you'd rather roll the dice on the 5% chance of a master coming at some point over the course of 5 years, then good luck to you!

May end up getting these songs eventually if I find myself craving some blues rock, though it's not something I'll attempt to buy as soon as I get MSP.
