Sony I think admited to Project Orbus but not said what it was, and MS hasn't made it a secret, they just haven't said it's coming either, and why would they until the last possible moment and potentially steal sales from the current Gen unit.

Nintendo did, but Wii sales were already trickling down, and they were discounting their (large) stock anyway.

rock band isn't really dead. as long as we remember it. and play it.
The problem with instruments isnt distributing or selling them so I dont see any benefit in adding a purchase option to the RB store

i think the problem for HMX would be to set up a whole new business out of thin air (selling and distributing instruments online) without any previous experience or infrastructure in place to support it. of course, the biggest problem with selling and distributing instruments is that there aren't any to sell or distribute.

I predict Rock Band will slowly fade away from here bruther. 2 to 3 songs a week bruther. We went from 7 down to 5 down 3 bruther. Let's face facts bruther. Rock Band has had a good run bruther but I don't expect much from Rock Band in 2013 dude. I predict they will continue with DLC but a new game is highly unlikely for Rock Band dude. Maybe 1 to 2 songs a week bruther for 2013 dude. Dance Central is the new fad bruther.

Sorry bruthers. It pains me to write that but that's just the way it is dude.

About once a month, I pile all of my Rock Band equipment into my car and drive out to Maryland to play with some friends there. None of them ever played RB before I introduced them to it about 2 years ago. They still think of it as a new and fun game, and are constantly surprised to see their rather mediocre performances rated in the top 300. They don't believe me when I point out that only 325 people have played that particular song on their instrument. How could a AAA-level game franchise continue to come out with new DLC, every week, for just me and a few hundred of my closest friends? Well, and then another 1,000 on Xbox. But still!

I guess I'm just living a charmed life.

i don't think it would go down to 1-2 songs a week. more likely it would go to bi-weekly or monthly DLC releases to maintain at least 3-6 songs per release.

I'm going to throw in my two cents.

I have the same opinions as everyone else on here. RB4 would be MORE than welcomed (especially since RB3 was a slight disappointment for me.) However, the main two questions are:

    Would DLC cross over?
Would our instruments work on the PS4 (or Xbox 720)?

I don't see how either could work. Now this poses another question to the gamer: are you willing to start your music library from scratch and buy all new instruments for RB4?

For me, unfortunately, I'm not. I've invested waaaaay too much in my DLC and instruments to start from scratch.

Another point is what if I don't want to buy a whole new system? The only way I would even consider buying the PS4 is if "magically" Sony wiped of things like Netflix and Hulu of the PS3. There's nothing wrong with my PS3; There's no reason for me to go out and buy a PS4. Now if (god forbid) my PS3 were to break, then I would start over; there's nothing for me to go back to.

On the bright side, I do see HMX continuing DLC sales until the end of time; It seems to be where most of their profit comes from.

I could see HMX doing a patch for RB3, which fixes the bugs and issues people have with the game, that's about the closest thing to a RB4 we'll ever see.

Until the end of time, or 2014 whatever comes first? I would guess most their profit comes from Dance Central.

I laughed at your sarcasim, then realized you're serious. Really? Never going to be a patch ever. All but confimed multiple times, the most recent being the explosion of the bug fix thread.
