Not to take anything away from Metallica, who are obviously a ridiculously huge band, but a lot of the Week 1 / Month 1 launch DLC is among the best selling content because 1) it's been out longest and 2) there weren't a lot of other options.

We'd love to have more Metallica in the game, but there have been plenty of instances where bands controlling their catalog has actually made licensing more difficult. Bands tour, they write albums, they have tons of other things going on, so they may have less bandwidth to deal with 3rd party requests. Meanwhile, labels exist specifically to help with things like licensing so bands can travel 300+ days out of the year, and disappear for months to record new albums. It remains to be see what these changes will mean for Metallica and their content, but don't imagine that this significantly changes the complications surrounding licensing.

If they can allow this to happen then anything and everything is up for rock band to hold some more metallica DLC in the future. We can only hope it's a strong opening or closing to the new year or next year.
