That GBO chord on Don't Look Back in Anger never bothered me. I don't know why people have trouble with it. Same with all the GYO chords when you play keys on guitar.

One song from 5 years ago probably won't convince playtesters to let you break a simple, objective rule like that. Authoring standards change over time.

It was mostly a joke. Though yes, GBO chords where the RBO chords are would actually be more accurate, as seen in the intro.

Still not gonna do it, but still...
The video is RB2; the song was really early in the Rock Band era. The charting ruleset they go by now has evolved from what it was in the past. That's almost like complaining about there not being any three-note chords in GH1.

Because it's difficult for some people (I presume kids) to manage that kind of chord on the standard fret keys. GYO in particular doesn't feel like any sort of fretting that might happen on an actual guitar, either.

GO itself is allowed because you don't need to worry about placing either the middle or ring finger anywhere.

Again, it was mostly a joke. I realize the song doesn't exactly follow protocol. But yes, GBO instead of RBO notes would be more accurate, but I'm fine with how it is.

Since no one asked for it, here's my opinions on some of GH's "innovative" charting changes.

Extended Sustains: I like them when used for arpeggio strumming and slow-strummed chords. However they seem to mostly use them for string bends. This makes me want to punch kittens.

Slider Notes: For long segments where it's obvious tapping, keyboard solos and even slides (when done right) this can be really useful. However for some reason they use them for any really fast solos (see: Demon(s) by Darkest Hour) and parts that don't make since to use them, like duel octave guitars. They abused this system when it wasn't needed about 75% of the time, and it got annoying.

Open Strums: I hate this. It makes a lot of songs unplayable on bass for me. I can see how some like it, since it's "more realistic," but since when was Guitar Hero ever realistic under non-HMX charting rules? It added a stretch of difficulty no one asked for.

Four/Five Note Chords: Just f***ing don't. The only people I can see liking them are extreme masochists who think Through the Fire and Flames needed to kick their asses harder. They're annoying and most of the time unnecessary. Again, I can see are more realistic. Unless charted onto a thunder clap at the end of Raining Blood.

GRO/GYO/GBO Chords: I'm okay with these when they're realistic. Most of the time, though, they're added in to artificially make a song harder. Most of the time they are unneeded, though if a base note is that low and the other notes are that high on a chord, then yeah, sure, go ahead. But that ending to Fury Of the Storm didn't need them.

The chord structure at the start of hangar 18 was one of my favourite uses of those chords you mentioned. Stricken, on the other hand.... What were they thinking?!?!
