    Tips for painting your controller?

So I decided I want to paint my Guitar Hero controller (the one that came with GH2 on the Xbox), but I don't know what steps I should take, what paint I should use, whether or not to take the controller apart, or stuff like that. I know first I have to peel off the stickers (I'm using rubbing alcohol, a paper towel, and a butter knife), but after that I have no idea what to do. Any tips?

Take the controller apart if you're comfortable with your skill in putting it back together. Don't lose any parts. It's way easier to paint and get an even coat if you can do both halves separately.

For stickers, rubbing alcohol should work just fine. Make sure you get all the adhesive off because it'll look ugly if you paint over top of a glob of gummy stuff.

Try Krylon Fusion spraypaint. It works really nice as it's made for bonding to plastic. Also, apply some nice glossy topcoats to prevent it from wearing away as easily.

It'll still wear away over time, but it'll look cool and experienced.

Does painting a design work with spraypaint? Or do I have to make a bunch of stencils first?

I have a P-bass controller my friends Sharpied up as a Christmas gift, but I use it very sparingly because I'm scared of rubbing off the stuff they did. I'm trying to go for something that won't rub off from my hands being positioned in the same spot

Isn't there a sealant you can use on the sharpie one to preserve them?

There is, but I was young, naive and cheap.
