    Your NEW KEYBOARD for RB3

FIRST OFF I HOPE THAT THE MAKER'S OF THE GAME CATCH THIS, BEFORE RB4 COMES OUT, TO POSSIBLY CORRECT THIS PROBLEM?

I do understand that the keyboard is a new instrument this year?

I AM NOT GETTING ENOUGH POINTS AS I AM PLAYING THROUGH THE SONGS ( WHEN COMPARED TO THE BASS GUITAR, THE DRUMS, LEAD GUITAR, EVEN THE MICROPHONE NETS MORE POINTS THAN THE KEYBOARD )

SO PLEASE LOOK AT PROGRAMING THERE MAY BE AN ERROR. BECAUSE SOME SONGS I PLAYED NETTED ME 5,000-10,000, I EVEN GOT BETWEEN 1,500 - 2,000 ON SOME SONGS. SO SOMETHING IS ADMISS HERE!

Second tons of music I DID DOWNLOAD THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE KEYBOARD/PIANO IN THEM I HEARD IT. MOST OF THE MUSIC 70% HAVE NO KEYBOARD PARTS, BUT IN ACTUALLAITY FROM LISTENING TO SONGS IT SHOULD BE NEAR 90% OF THE MUSIC SHOULD HAVE KEYBOARDS/PIANO'S IN THEM.
Just an example here ( YOU CAN HEAR IT )The Bob Marley LEGEND ALBUM HAS TONS OF ELECTRIC PIANO/KEYBOARD PARTS IN IT. WHAT DOES THE SONG SAY, OR MOST OF THE SONGS SAY ON THAT ALBUM IS NO KEYBOARD SYMBOL NEXT TO IT!

Here is a list of things for/with points that were ALL included.

RB1- The Drums, Plus lead guitar, the bass, then the microphone.

No matter what I did the microphone, plus the bass guitar never neted as many points as the lead guitar and drums.

    RB2 I never bought

RB3- The drums plus the lead guitar. Some songs I play the bass for I still get a little points than the lead guitar. So IMO the bass needs twicked slightly in points given back to the players. The same can be said for microphone, with a slight tug upwards with the points.

Now moving on to the keyboards, it seems it may have an error because no matter how well I play I am NOT GETTING ENOUGH POINTS BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER. SO THAT NEEDS A GOOD WACK IN GIVING PONTS BACK.

It will take 2 to 3 more years/games and the keyboard will have all the prolems out of it, not to mention all, the music it will- should have correctly set in the game. As far back to when this fisrt started out. Baby steps with with the instuments, plus all the music

This is only for me but i bought a keyboard, plus I also bought a split strum bar ( Bass Guitar, I forget where I got it from? I did order it online from and then mailed to my home.

The problem is that any song released before Rock Band 3 do not have keyboard parts, as they are required to be separate from the rest of the mix. Before Rock Band 3, the only instruments available were the guitar/bass, drums, and vocals; thus, songs with obvious keyboard parts (like the Bob Marley Legend songs and, say, Don't Stop Believing) won't have distinct keyboard tracks. The effort that needs to be put in to re-do all the previous songs is simply unaffordable when you factor in money for re-licensing and actual sales. Besides, adding the extra instrument to songs would make them unplayable in Rock Band/RB2.

The point count for each individual instrument is going to vary no matter what, and the amount of points a keyboard gets will vary depending on 1) whether you're playing the "Keys" part or the "Pro Keys" part and 2) how much action the key chart gets. Consider a song like "Polly" which has very little drums (three cymbal hits). You wouldn't expect that to get the same amount of points than the guitar which plays through the entire song, right?

Still, if you know what you're doing, the right keyboard chart will net you TONS of points. But don't let the point count get to you; it's really the star count you want to worry about if you want to know how you're doing. Plus, leaderboards will show you how you fare against other people, too.

Finally, RB2 is still the best. If you haven't played that yet it's worth it.

    * Prior to Pro instruments being released, vocals actually scored the most points in full band play on virtually all songs that had lyrics and more than a handful of phrases.

    * The in-game store actually tells you (as does this very site you're on), what songs do and don't have keys charted. As a general rule of thumb, most songs released after Oct. 26, 2010 (RB3's release date) will have keys charted when there's something to chart keys to.

    * Pro keys can score an absurd number of points on some songs (Runaway and Captain Jack come to mind).

    * If you think you're getting the short end of the stick points-wise, you should try playing 3-player Harmony vocals some time.

    * Putting things in CAPS does not make people pay more attention to your post, it just makes you seem less mature.

i FC'ed polly on drums and only got 300 points. so obviously HMX needs to rewrite Rock Band to give drummers more points.

I opened this thread thinking that there was going to be a new MadCatz keyboard for rockband, or at very least a recommendation for some very friendly MIDI controller.

    or

barring those, a link to a funny youtube vid.

Needless to say I am disappoint.

In fear of sounding snarky, was the song you got 1k points on The Beautiful People, Before I Forget or that one by INXS by any chance? Because few notes equal small points on ALL instruments and sadly a lot of bands use the keyboard merely as background filler with little to no interesting parts to play or even enough notes to fill the multiplier.

And that is by far the most irritating aspect of RB3 keys support to me: HMX charted keys on way too many songs that shouldn't have a keys track. I don't care if that Dio song has a catchy little keys riff that is instantly identifiable, if I only play it once every two and a half minutes and just sit/stand there the rest of the time with nothing to do then the song shouldn't have a keys track.

    I disagree.

Sure it sucks for a dedicated keyboardist. But songs with key parts like this are great for filling vox downtime.

I disagree. I think the criteria should be something in the neighborhood of at least 20 notes. Many of those songs had more than 20 notes other than maybe Need You Tonight (but it's a good intro song). Some is better than none almost all the time.
