Here's the same thing, but with Synchrony instead of Pinball this time.

Or just put everything back to the way it was before they ruined Blitz. I rather have a few overpowered combos that are fun to use and add gameplay then nerf everything entirely and then the game becomes a boring luck drawn game on who can get blast notes to spawn at specific spots or who get's luckiest with road rage or bottle rockets. I don't mind big margins between scores as long as the score is technically obtainable.

I'll tell you now that all the problems that was originally a concern that caused HMX to do such a thing are all still there. It's actually far worse in this state then it was in it's original state. I'll continue to use Pinball for 90% of my songs until they smarten up and revert the flame change that they did. The flame change accomplished absolutely nothing.

I'm intentionally avoiding all of my easier songs that have high band/flame scores posted because there is no point at all in competing with that. Unobtainable scores on the leaderboards is no fun at all.

It's also clear that this game wasn't tested at a high level play as it should considering that Blitz Mode gives a pathetic 500 points for every 10 points and that's only after you keep like a 50 note streak. You can get 3-5x that in one sync. There is absolutely no reason or reward to maintain a note streak unless if you are using jackpot. If you are not using jackpot then blitz mode is virtually useless. And sorry that reason "would devalue gold stars" is garbage. The people who can't gold star the majority of their songs are people who are unable to maintain a streak anyways, so why would raising the Blitz mode cap devalue them? They aren't going to be getting 150+ note streak and maintain it. If they are then they wouldn't have trouble GSing songs in the first place.

I would say the best option would be to nerf pinball and sync down at the same kind of extremes as it was for flame notes (e.g. 50 points for each sync and 10 points for each note that pinball hits) before uploading the next set of tournaments to RBW and then revert everything back to the original values before December 26th once the tournaments are over.

Yea great idea because that would really fix the balance issue. Honestly all that would do is shift the powerup loadout back to jackpot blast. the only fix in my mind that would work is to revert flame notes to their original value and buff other powerups. eg runaway notes

honestly i wouldnt count on anything to be done about this until after the tournament and even then not sure... considering nobody from hmx has said as much as a peep in weeks

Agreed. Doing anything else would just make leaderboards and scores invalid, which ruins the point of blitz because it was supposed to be an "aim for the highest score possible" kind of game. It did that rather well until the nerf. Nerfing more powerups just doesn't please anyone because you don't get the thrill of getting obscene point values like before. Then you end up going through the same kind of balance issues as Starcraft 2: nerf everything which causes a further segregation of one loadout as best.

I'm also a tad worried that HMX is quieter than usual since the nerf. Really worried for the future of Rock Band given that every other week is not really new DLC and that line in the announcement saying something along the lines of "no plans for future DLC passed march".
I never thought a game would be able to inspire the formation of a real band or strengthen friendships. Thank you Harmonix, for making Rock Band.

So, flame notes still haven't been fixed. Not much of a reason to play anything but tournament songs at the moment, and even then bouncing a ball around is not very much fun, and feels like a completely different game.

I don't see why it couldn't be reverted before the next weeks tournament, as everyone would still have an equal chance. Then it would actually be skill based again, and perhaps the same 3 people wouldn't win every week .

Seemed to me that the big problem was that people were squeezing two tracks at once and that's why flame was nerfed, but now nothing's really been solved other than making another power up useless (and let's not kid ourselves, unlike something like Mario Kart where you can be happy with any power up and wield as necessary, no one is voluntarily choosing stuff like runaway notes or soundwave, etc.).

So did Harmonix have a way to edit values of power ups, but didn't have a way to shrink hit windows? Because that's the problem I gather. I know that they're wanting the game to be accessible, but if that's the case then maybe there should've been difficulty levels like in a normal Rock Band game. Because hit windows as they are... they're GH3 bad. "Large as a cow anus" bad.
I've been waiting, in halfhearted sleep,
For a promise I half meant to keep.
Just for hoping that hope still flies.

Shrinking the hit window penalizes players who aren't as good (so it penalizes everyone) as well as requires a patch.

HMX could solve all of this by choosing "SEX" and "PON DE FIOR" by SNMT as tournaments hence people buy it and enable it to be ported over to PS3 so it makes everyone happy!
