Ive just adjusted to it. Its playing a pinball game except for the parts where the ball isnt active. I still have fun doing it but you are right, if you are good with pinball you can have it active for 1/2 to 3/4 of the song and those bits are not rhythm based.

Or because Blitz is five months old. The other Rock Band games make it easy to forget that five months is a long time to keep playing the same game.

I think it's important for us to reiterate that the solution is not just to nerf Pinball or Sync, which would further delegitimize our leaderboards. As already pointed out, this is all to demonstrate that buffing power-ups wouldn't dramatically devalue gold stars (they're already hella devalued), and that Pinball needs the competition.

IMO, there either needs to be a package of changes that comes along with a leaderboard wipe or they need to reset flame to what it was and just leave the game be.

Probably a mix of both. I would play it everyday. Now I don't anymore.
I actually have a list of RBN songs to buy if flame notes ever revert back.

Same. I was actually considering to buy a bunch of lower tiered and less dense charts to practice bandmate/flame juggling and jack/flame practice, but now there is no point. Most low tier songs are completely impossible to beat without flame notes...mainly your scores...

I find flame notes and pinball combos a lot more fun then road rage/blast which is just boring as hell. Jack/Blast is decent but not very viable on most songs.

The second one is the easiest and best option. It's amazing how all of these problems were caused by effectively just changing a single integer on a server someplace. The good news is that it's also easy to fix. Whatever problems the game had before this nerf absolutely pale in comparison to the utter mess it is now. It's completely astounding to me that they haven't already done this. It would be one thing if there were any sort of persistence to the tournaments, meaning that there's some kind of aggregate tracking across multiple tournaments that changing the rules in the middle would affect, but these tournaments are completely isolated. There's absolutely no reason they couldn't just do this between tournaments so everyone plays by the old rules again. No harm, no foul.

As for Road Rage/Blast being boring by comparison, Zage, I completely agree. Especially when you throw Synchrony's ability to hit notes for you in subsequent lanes (which is humorously the same mechanic that started this mess in a different context), it's crazy how much just tapping out the overdrive and hitting single notes effectively plays the game for you.

If Flame Notes ever go back, it will be interesting at least to see how often I can beat my RR/BN/Sync scores with Jack/Flame/Super. If the game were properly balanced, I shouldn't even have a prayer at that. But I don't care. No more nerfing to anything. Just put Flames back where they were and we can go back to a fun and at least somewhat balanced game.

I think this is the best suggestion, but it's unlikely to happen. Ultimately there's no other way to both make the leaderboards competitive and keep the low end accessibility and balance alive, and no matter what you do, people are going to complain.

Just to chime in: I've been avoiding this game since the first tournament went up precisely because I'm waiting for flame notes to be restored to their original value. I know someone from Harmonix made the point earlier that it's helpful if we keep playing because it'll help them figure out what to do next with the game, etc., but I think it's clear that the only power-up worth a damn for high-level play right now is Pinball, and after having tried using it a few times, I just figured I'd save myself the frustration and stop playing.

Which is a shame, because I really enjoyed Blitz before. I had played almost every song in my library. :\

Anyway, here's hoping the devs sort this out in a more satisfying way. It's kind of a bummer that I don't have it as my go-to game anymore. (Though, I can't lie, I've been discovering a lot of other games in its absence!)

I look at the tournament scores, and see the same two people winning every week, and it says to me that it would be a lot more interesting if they changed the scoring rules for powerups on a regular basis. I think the idea was that changing the powers around would keep people from getting into a rut and using the same combination every single time, and that sounds like an idea with promise to me. So the last change made a lot of people give pinball a try. OK, I tried it, and I liked it well enough, but like many others I find that using it makes the game feel a whole lot less like you're playing the song, instead you are playing a totally different game. Maybe that was even the whole point. Next up, they can lower the pinball scoring and boost (say) blast notes, or runaway notes, since flame notes already had their turn as the overpowered feature that everyone was using. And then (maybe) a different set of people would win every week, or they could change the rules so that no one person could win more than (say) once per month.

I switched from Super (Instrument) to Synchrony, once it was pointed out how powerful it is now, and having slightly different incentives (swapping lanes often, as opposed to concentrating on the one super lane) has made the game a bit more interesting for me, and I'm playing again after forgetting about it for a month or so.
