What Happened to Flame Notes In Rockband Blitz?????

Probably a mix of both. I would play it everyday. Now I don't anymore.
I actually have a list of RBN songs to buy if flame notes ever revert back.

I used to play every week. Flame note nerf made all my scores inaccessible and a few of the songs I hadn't GSed yet impossible to do by other means. Now I only play for those 1-2 songs my friends may need help with for goals, and even they're losing interest now that leaderboards are pointless.

I can understand that HMX want GS to have some value but that went out the door the moment people discovered bottle rocket/blast notes worked for most songs.

The tournament is sadly a complete joke as it is right now. The way ketchup and I are winning is by getting good at pinball which really shouldn't be the only competitive option in this game. I agree that pinball is a ridiculous powerup and Blitz shouldn't be about who the best pinball player is.

The reason why I am using Pinball so often now, is because it's literally impossible to get any winning score with jack/blast except on a few selection of songs. my first ..and justice for all score that I posted was 1,589k which was jack/blast but after I saw ketchup getting almost 60k above that, I knew I had to resort to pinball. I know it's not right that I got over 230k higher than the best jack/blast run on Helena Beat by focusing mostly on keeping the pinball powerup in play and occasionally firing rockets.

I don't want pinball nerfed because it is a fun way to play the game and adds to the variety. I keep all of my multipliers up during the song and hit the vast majority of notes that I can. I don't play that different then a good rr/bn /blast/sync player when I am using pinball/sync. Instead I am trying to do several things at once, and Pinball makes it a lot more challenging to play the actual game while I am also playing pinball lol.

The issue isn't that pinball is grossly overpowered. pre nerf Bandmate/Flame was able to generate higher scores with far less skill required, and the potential of Bandmate/Flame on many songs was far higher when that combo is in hands of a skilled player. I was just starting to get into it, and I didn't discover the science and strategy of how flames acted until a few days before the MasterM0 fiasco in this forums. I never had that much time to develop my band/flame skillset because the nerf happened just before I was able to post some good scores. (some of my RB2 song scores).

I think it was great that Jack/Flame, Band/Flame, Pinball/Sync are all this powerful and it gives players 3 options that each require their own skillset on how to dominate the game. It also added the question on which of the three you should use depending on the song. The nerf took away all that and reduced the game into a pinball game. The tournament would have a lot more people competing and ketchup and I sure as hell wouldn't be winning this easily at it. I know many players who are far better with band/flame and even jack/flame then what I can do and I am sure more players practiced getting good at those combos. Participation would have been several magnitudes higher. I want to see my ass getting kicked on songs by a bunch of players. Not the same guy.

It's honestly not fair that you do a severe nerf like this, right before you have a tournament. How is it fair that someone who's been practicing with pinball/sync for awhile have a much higher shot then someone who exclusively used flame notes? It's not fair at all, and you have greatly offended those people and deemed their play styles worthless, when in reality where highly legitimate.

Anyway, I have been messing with pinball a lot lately because of the tournaments, and while it's fun and frantic (and I'm destroying my old Jack/Blast scores easily), it just doesn't feel very Rock Bandy. It's also annoying as hell when the ball just zips straight through the 'paddle' at times.

It applies to this topic because it's happening because of this. Not many were using pinball. Myself and a few other blitz players from scorehero discovered the usefulness of pinball sync fairly early, and we have had plenty of time to practice and develop that skill. It wasn't completely public on these forums until after the nerf happened, and the community didn't really get enough time to practice and develop that skill. So that's why it's the same 3 or so people winning every week and I agree that it's not fair at all. If flame notes were kept they way there were, the tournament would look entirely different and diverse like it should. Most of the top players utilized strategies with flame notes and most outright ignored pinball.

Yeah, changing flame RIGHT before a tournament was literally the worst idea they could possibly have. I'd be right up there with the top since I was practicing it after realizing bandmate hit flame notes. Now I'm shoved down to 4th-8th place with pinball, since I had barely used it as I thought hitting all the notes while using jackpot took a lot more skill and was much, much more fun.

Sure, they could have decided to shut down the Rock Central Servers. That would have been worse. But in terms of powerup balancing, conjuring up something worse than what they've done here would strain credulity to the maximum.

There was some very thin logic applied to this change, but that logic was based entirely on idle speculation and they've completely ignored the drastic and universally negative side effects the change has caused. And despite several novels worth of sound argument against it, we've scarcely gotten an official peep.
