This is great news that these silly tournaments are finally ending. Almost 3 months have passed since they unexpectedly removed the Flame notes as a legitimate Power Up the day after Christmas without announcing it.

Although I think they might put Flame notes back now I am not holding my breath that it will be anytime soon. The Flame note issue did not seem to have the importance to harmomnix as it did their customers. We shall see.

Oh man, this was the last week of tournaments? Fantastic!

Maybe now it can go back return to being a music/rhythm game instead of pinball. Not going to get my hopes up though, since they obviously didn't care too much in the first place.

Amen. Like the other top players from what I've heard, I'm totally done with Pinball.

Alrighty. Pinball scorefest with prizes is over. What now? Is Blitz going to stay a pinball scorefest or are we actually going to get a diverse, even remotely level playing field?
I never thought a game would be able to inspire the formation of a real band or strengthen friendships. Thank you Harmonix, for making Rock Band.

    Thanks for the update Grumble.

When they say "it's not like flipping a switch let's" all remember the switch was flipped the day after Christmas at 11am lol. Guess it's easy to nerf but buffing powerups is much more complicated lol.

Typing numbers is harder than flipping a switch.

Not nessessarily a lot, but it is.

And it likely was more than a switch flip then.

In their defense, there's a lot to think about. There have been some other suggested buffs, if they do keep a nerf of some kind, or rebalance everything, will they reset the leaderboards? (Not unreasonable as a final balance just to basically wipe the board and start over) Perhaps they're going to do some "testing" over the weekend.

I'll keep an eye out for further info although I do think that if new info comes out on Monday, it will be during the livestream.

Well it looks like I can take a week break from Rock Band Blitz then. No point in playing the game at all in this current state now that the Tournaments are over. It was the tournaments that kept me playing and all the songs that I can try to use pinball on. I don't even want to touch that powerup now thanks to the tournament.

    lol lol lol

The change after Christmas was the result of miscommunication more than anything. Making any change to Blitz requires coder time, QA time, producer coordination, manager approvals, etc. Web and Community are responsible for announcing that these changes are happening, but we're not directly involved in the execution. Sometimes that work isn't communicated as smoothly or far enough in advance as it could be and that may be why it appears that something "just happened".

But that's not how game development works. Even if it was as easy as flipping a switch, we'd still need approvals for the time of the guy responsible for flipping the switch and we'd still need time from testers to ensure that flipping that switch didn't affect any other power ups or larger scoring mechanics. These are all devs who are hard at work on other projects so we can't force schedules or change the pace at which these things happen.

We're aware that the posters in this thread would still like to see Flame Notes restored. We're having conversations about it and requesting dev time. We don't have any updates at the moment because tournaments literally just ended. Winners haven't even been contacted and prizing hasn't even been sent out yet. We'll post if and when we have an update, but we're waiting on dev feedback, processing prizing, and prepping for PAX East and GDC next week so it's not the top priority right now. Trust that we've heard you, that we've lobbied for the things you've asked for, and we'll give you more info when we have more info.
