If it's to get more people to buy Rock Band Blitz, most people who use Rock Band World already have Blitz. That's why threads about Rock Band World goals appear here and not in the main Rock Band forum.
The point about Facebook had nothing to do with facebook's numbers. It has to do with the 6000 people on the Rockband App. That is the number Rockband wants to improve. Not only can they than directly market to those people but can also collect and sell user data that is collected. I have never read the terms of Service of the App so I can't say for sure. I simply suggested those who do read the TOS.

You have corrected me about Rockband world being Blitz players. I looked in to this a little. I had no idea what it was about earlier as I had no interest. But you are correct. Those 6000 already have Blitz so my earlier idea about selling more copies is wrong.

For sure they are trying to increase their Facebook App numbers. And I don't blame them. I just wish this could have been done without completely changing the game and making the Leaderboards pointless.

I find it funny they go out of their way to correct the Flame notes but never addressed an issue that actually makes the overall score leaderboard a farce. I always wondered why everyone had such high overall scores on the main leaderboard. I come on here and find this video:

At least using flame notes took skill.

And lets not forget about all of us who bought that Roy Orbison song for an achievement that never gets unlocked because of how the song is cataloged.

actually, these tournaments have probably been planned for since before Blitz was launched. Seeing as the first loading screen i saw when i got the game (which was before the official marketplace release even) was that there were gonna be tournaments

big difference between an exploit on 60+% of the songs than 1 on 6 songs

What are they supposed to do about the one-lane songs? Severely tone down what is already the hardest powerup to use effectively just so that people don't get ludicrous scores for songs that don't play very well in Blitz?

I have NO desire to mix my Facebook world and Rockband world. Not only that but I have never downloaded an App for Facebook of any kind and never will. I don't trust any of it. Blitz was my first introduction to Rock Band and I was really impressed with Harmonix. If all this is true I will have to rethink where I spend my money.

I am starting to think that they have some type of marketing deal going on here. Selling your information for those who sign up through Facebook. Make sure all of you read all terms of Service and be well aware of what they are doing with your information.
This is a separate argument and one that hasn't held much water, especially if you're talking about the tournament. Anyway, I popped in here to also say that HMX has handled this very poorly. There's little point to play for people who care about this, which is saddening.

Edit: Herf, I was responding to post on page 7. Still though!

You are right. I am sure they planned this tournament stuff from the beginning. And all power to them. Its a great idea for certain players and will be pretty successful. No one here has complained about the tournaments. Most are excited.

The issue is their decision to Nerf a power up and make the song leaderboards useless.

You call the Bandmate/Flame an exppliot yet I beat most people who used that combo when I was using Jackpot/Flame. Flame was a great power up but still required skill to use. The leaderboards had the best players on them no matter the Powerup combo.

To fix the overall leaderboard exploit all they had to do was remove the song. Rock Band 3 has songs that you cannot play on Blitz right? But since this exploit will have no effect on the tournaments they don't remove the song and allow the overall leaderboards compromised. And I could care less about the overall leaderboards I was simply making the point problems within the game they have never addressed.

Remove the song. Decreasing Flame Notes by almost 80% seems to be done in theory to give lesser players a chance to compete in some Facebook tournament. If they can make such a drastic decision like that why can't they simply remove 1 song which has completely taken away the integrity of the overall Leaderboard.

Removing the song and all songs like it would only screw over RBN authors and artists who were never told they weren't allowed to include songs with one instrument, and would set a terrible precedent for changing the rules and removing songs. Would you also support removing all the songs without pro drums? Or all the RBN 1 songs?

I think most people agree that nerfing Flames and making leaderboards useless also sets a terrible precedent.

Once again my only point was that the game was not perfect but it worked for all of us who played it. That seems to be the majority of the feedback I am seeing.

The one lane song itself though sets a terrible precedent. The way Blitz is set up they should not allow one lane songs. If they want to keep the integrity of the overall leaderboard.

I'm guessing they can make "special rules" (which songs to play, which powerups to use) for this tournament? why not just disable bandmate flame for the tournament only? would've been much easier is my guess

That is a very logical and simply solution. Seems a shame they did not just do something like this.
